If you’re anything like me, fishing isn’t just a hobby – it’s a way of life. Since I was a kid, stomping around a shoreline, making a run on a boat, or sitting on a wooden dock has always been my happy place.

The problem is, life doesn’t let us live in our happy place 24/7. We all have this pesky little problem that adults call “responsibilities.” Work tasks, errands, household chores… The list goes on and on.

That’s where podcasts shine. They turn commutes into conversations, chores into classrooms, and work stations into campfire stories with some of the best anglers and advice out there.

If you love fishing – and I’m guessing you do – these podcasts deserve a spot on your playlist. Some will teach, some will inspire, and some will just make you laugh. All of them will make you feel closer to the water, even when you’re stuck on land!

Here are just a few of my favorites – in no particular order.

1. Captains Collective Podcast

Full disclosure – this is my show. What started as a side project has grown into my full-time “job”, and it’s been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life. On Captains Collective, I sit down with fishing guides, lodge owners, artists, and industry legends to talk about more than just tactics. Through my travels with the Drifter Fish Club, I am able to sit down with captains and anglers around the world to hear their stories and pick up some helpful tips along the way.

Why listen?

The focus is on the culture of fishing – the stories, struggles, and lessons that shape the lives of those who live for the water. One week might be a deep dive into the business of running a lodge, another might explore art inspired by fishing, and the next could be a candid chat with a captain who’s spent decades chasing Tarpon. The hope of the podcast is not just to help people catch more fish, but to have a better understanding and appreciation of the places and people around the water.

2. Mill House Podcast

Few shows document the history of saltwater fishing like Mill House. Hosted by Andy and Nicky Mill, this podcast is best known for long-form interviews with the legends who helped shape modern Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit fishing. Millhouse has built a reputation for archiving some of the most important voices in fishing.

Why listen?

Andy himself is a pioneer in Tarpon fishing, which gives the conversations credibility you won’t find anywhere else. Episodes often run over two hours, but they feel like sitting down on the porch with a group of old friends, swapping tales of breakthroughs, heartbreaks, and unforgettable fish.

3. Anchored with April Vokey

One of the most established fishing podcasts out there, Anchored has earned its reputation for thoughtful, in-depth conversations. Host April Vokey is not only an accomplished angler but also one of the best interviewers in the outdoor space. April’s experiences and perspective have helped her earn a level of respect in the fishing industry that few have achieved.

Why listen?

What sets Anchored apart is its range of guests and topics. April sits down with guides, conservationists, scientists, authors, and industry veterans, and no two conversations feel the same. Some episodes are packed with technical insight, while others dive into conservation – and many strike a balance of both.

When it comes to Bass fishing, there’s no shortage of information out there. But very little of it feels as honest and practical as Tackle Talk. Hosted by Andrew Hayes, this podcast cuts through the noise with straightforward gear breakdowns, tournament insights, and tips you can actually use.

Why listen?

Andrew has a knack for making gear talk approachable without watering it down. Beginners won’t feel lost, but seasoned Bass anglers will still pick up new insights. Fishing can be serious business, but Fish Nerds is here to remind us it doesn’t always have to be. Hosted by Clay Groves and friends, the show blends fishing talk with humor, science, and conservation in a way that feels more like hanging out at camp than sitting in on a lecture.

Hey, Do you anyone who is interested in learning more about true vintage lures? I recently wrote a comprehensive collecting guide about one of the most collected lure company, The Creek Chub Lure Co. (1916-1978). The book is 285 pages with over 850 images, all in color. Thought I would just touch base. Thanks, Fred Sweeney
