Over the past 12 months, fishing guides from all over the world ran for FishingBooker’s Angler’s Choice Award. Today, the results are in, and we want to say a huge congrats to the winners! To win, captains needed to reach:

  • 4.5 Review score
  • 7 Verified reviews
  • 90% Response rate
  • 70% Realization rate

Earning FishingBooker’s biggest achievement wasn’t easy, so a big round of applause to all who have achieved the requirements. These are a testament to your quality of service, responsiveness, and willingness to turn every possible booking into a memorable fishing trip.

For those of you who’ve reached a 70% realization rate, we know that this took a lot of proactiveness, constant communication, and changing and rescheduling bookings when circumstances demanded it. Well done!

What You Get

If you’re among the winners, you’ll have received an email letting you know about the good news. Your listing now boasts the Angler’s Choice badge, which will let customers know about your achievement. But that’s not all.

  • You now get extra exposure through the Angler’s Choice filter, which customers can use when looking for a charter. This instantly puts you in an elite group in your location, increasing your chances of getting a booking.
  • Your dashboard lets you access a personalized Angler’s Choice widget, which you can upload to your website for everyone to see.
  • And to get you publicity even beyond FishingBooker, our outreach team will run PR campaigns about your achievement. If all goes well, we’ll get you a mention in your local media!

Angler’s Choice is Getting Better

While running for the Angler’s Choice Award over the past 12 months, many of you have pointed out how the current set of requirements could’ve been better. We realize that a 70% realization rate requirement isn’t easily controllable when you’re running trips on the open water. Thank you for being so vocal about this!

We’ve taken your feedback very seriously, and are happy to say that we’re close to completing a new and improved Angler’s Choice Award.

I am not a fan of the qualifications for Anglers choice, I have been an Award winner for many years, but 2021 was a bad year for me due to illness of covid 19 Delta variant. No one could have predicted this nor understood how hard it was to get through it. I feel like it is being used against me in this particular award and costing me opportunities of more bookings, also a rough spring caused a lot of weather cancelations. Some consideration should have been in play for solid performers like myself that have fallen on hard times.

    Hi Capt. Ken,

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I’m sorry to hear about the rough battle you had with Covid and I sincerely hope you’re feeling better now.

We understand just how tough and unpredictable the past two years have been, so we’re introducing a whole range of changes to the Angler’s Choice criteria going forward. The most significant change is that the cancellations that are out of your control, such as the bad weather ones, will no longer impact your ability to win the award.

The new criteria will be implemented later this year, so you won’t have to wait too long before you get another shot at qualifying for Angler’s Choice. I’m sorry we couldn’t introduce this sooner but we do expect the new criteria to put the control over winning Angler’s Choice back into your hands.

    Tight lines,

    Marko

Would you please post a link to the award winners I have searched google 4 different ways and can only find articles about the award, mot the actual winners. And please confirm this is only given to captain that book through your service.

    Hi Laura,

    Thanks for getting in touch!

We don’t have a public directory of Angler’s Choice winners at the moment, I’m afraid. The easiest way for you to find a list of winners is to apply the “Angler’s Choice” filter in the FishingBooker search results for a particular location. For example, here’s how the filter can give you a list of all Angler’s Choice recipients in Destin.

And yes, the Angler’s Choice award is only given to captains that are listed on FishingBooker.

I hope you’ll find this helpful.

    Have a good one!

I get some of the critiques, however, it’s a challenge and a choice for all of us that choose to be listed on Fishing Booker … No one is twisting anyone’s arm to be on here … I’m personally proud to have made the cut for the past three season as an Anglers Choice recipient and like the fact that any captain the want’s to be listed and highly ranked must comply with stringent licensing, certifications, and have a positive response form their customers !!!

    Hi Captain Mark,

Congrats on getting the Angler’s Choice Award! Winning the recognition three times in a row is a truly incredible achievement. Captains with continued excellence like yourself are inspiring us to think of even bigger recognition programs, and we’re hoping to develop something like that in the near future.

We appreciate your support for our efforts to promote legitimate captains only – we believe this is of huge importance for the industry, and are really glad that you feel the same.

We hope that the award will bring you even more business this year – tight lines!

Hey Sean … I’ve just completed a frustrating timeline getting my MMC renewed … was looking fir a little leeway with FB so I could keep posting reviews, pics, update my calendar, etc., however, now that I’ve submitted my credentials, how long should I expect it to take to get reinstated ???

    Hi Captain Beamer,

Thanks for checking in. Yes, it seems that there’s been quite a backlog with MMC license renewals. Apparently the USCG received a lot of invalid applications recently which caused the delay.

I’ve reached out to our Legal team to check what the status is on your credentials. We’ll get back to you directly as soon as we have an update.

Thank you for your patience and have a good one!
