With the festive season well and truly upon us, the reviews and reports on FishingBooker have been bursting with surprises. From tournament victories to unforgettable new experiences, there’s been a lot going on.

Check out these highlights to see the stories that stood out the most.

Highest Rated: Reel Easy Charters

The captains at Reel Easy Charters have been working as hard as ever, making visitors to Key West smile. And with 11 five-star reviews last month, it seems like their trips are consistently ones to remember. What did customers mention the most? Captain Jared’s extensive knowledge of the area and the amazing Lemon Shark fishing!

This big Barracuda was caught by Don from California, who also caught two more Barracudas, two Sharks, and Mangrove and Yellowtail Snappers – all in just 6 hours on the water. You’ve got us wanting to come aboard too, Reel Easy!

Tournament Special: Daliken Sportfishing

Randall from Alaska got more than your average 3/4 day trip when he went fishing in San Jose, Mexico, with Daliken Sportfishing. He was in town during the Los Cabos Big Game Charter Boat Classic and got his name on the leaderboard for a while! Reporting that it was a “great day of fishing,” he was very happy with his trip with Captain Jaime. Not to mention the 15 lb Mahi Mahi that earned him his spot in the limelight!

Los Cabos isn’t the only place in Mexico that had a competitive air about it in the last month. Captain Ramon from Lori III Sportfishing reported how he reached first place in the Catch and Release category on the third day of the Manzanillo International Fishing Tournament. It was a true Billfish bonanza, with a Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, and two Sailfish all in one day. Great job, Captain Ramon and crew!

Unique Local Experience: Catfishing, South African Style

Wayne Ramsden’s hospitality and local touches meant visiting angler Manuel had a Cape Town experience he’d never have seen without a guide.

While the tip of the African continent is rightfully famous for its amazing big game fishing, Wayne offers something a little different. Cape Town Carp and Catfish Tours runs street fishing tours around the city, going after the African Catfish, Carp, and Barbel. During the tour, he introduces his guests to local anglers and shows his visitors a variety of types of lures and techniques for catching fish in inconspicuous rivers outside of the general tourist trail.

As Manuel reported, the tour “was one of the highlights of my trip to South Africa. Rarely have I had so much fun fishing.”

With local beer, coffee, and real expertise, this genuine South African experience must be one of the most unique trips you can take in the city. Great idea for a tour setup, Wayne!

Outstanding Review: Roosterfish and Billfish in One Day!

Two happy men with a roosterfish on a boat

You know how people will sometimes tell you that you can’t have it all? Well, it seems like Captain Greg from The Future of Fishing missed the memo. When his recent customer gave him the tough task of putting his group on a Roosterfish and a Marlin or Sailfish, he delivered expertly.

Jason from Wisconsin said, “We couldn’t have asked for a better day of fishing with an awesome crew, amazing views, and some killer fish. We were able to real in two decent Roosterfish and a Striped Marlin. We got to see dolphins and what seems to be thousands of manta rays migrating …. [The Future of Fishing] were truly great and very accommodating. We will definitely book again.”

The Puerto Vallarta area of Mexico is arguably one of the best places for a world-class fishing adventure. Kudos, Captain Greg, for showing Jason why in a single short trip!

Local Recognition: Catchin’ Jiants

When we were working on Captain CJ Floyd’s listing recently, we were very excited to hear from his family about how he was nominated and won “Best Fishing Captain of Sanibel and Captiva Islands 2019.”

We heard how CJ Floyd was humbled and excited to have received such an award. This was a great achievement for him personally.

Having worked together for three years now, it’s great to see Catchin’ Jiants being recognized in the local area. It certainly matches what our customers have to say about the quality of the charter service. Congratulations!

Cat Tyack spends almost every spare moment she has outside. Whether it's hiking, horseback riding or fishing, she's always looking for her next adventure in the great outdoors. Having been fishing on several continents, her most memorable fishing moment was casting poppers to Mahi Mahi in the shadow of enormous oil barges in the Arabian Sea.
