With summer vacation drawing to a close and the weather scorching across the board, last month was a busy one for anglers! Over four and a half thousand FishingBooker customers left five-star reviews for their captains in August alone. Here are some of the highlights.

Highest Rated: Fins Up Adventure Charters in Hilton Head

Captain Herb Rosenberg from Fins Up Adventure Charters only published his FishingBooker listing in July. But his business picked up very quickly. Customers were immediately attracted to his kid-friendly approach and the diversity of trips he had on offer. Come August, he received the highest number of positive reviews and recommendations of the month, with 20 five-star reviews and 22 recommendations!

Here are some of the things his customers pointed out:

“He was dear with my grandson involving him in small chores on the boat. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Hilton Head Island and Savannah which made the experience all the more interesting.” – Jon L, North Carolina

“Captain Herb and David gave a good history of the area when we went between fishing spots. They were very patient and kind with my daughters.” – Don B, Wisconsin

“He helped everyone in the family, answered all of our questions and taught us so much of the history and facts about Hilton Head area. And he was super nice with our kids.” – Jose R, Florida

Local knowledge and a kind, personable attitude make the difference between a good fishing trip and an experience to remember for a lifetime. And judging by what our customers are saying, Captain Herb’s perfected the art. We’re delighted to be working with you, Herb, and wish you lots more happy customers in the future!

A Fish To Remember In Tenerife

Man on a boat holding a Tuna

We’ve been working with Captain Adrian Arcay from The Rodfather for three years now, and have seen customers praising his service time and time again. Last month, he broke the 100 review barrier as he put this customer on what Rebecca from the UK describes as, “The fish of a lifetime.” We’ve got to agree – this Tuna’s a size many of us can only dream of catching!

Congratulations on all the positive reviews, Adrian, and great job putting yet another customer on a big fish!

Sometimes the Trip of a Lifetime is on Your Doorstep!

Captain and client with a fluke

Everyone knows how much harder it can be to impress experienced anglers. Especially those who’ve fished all over the world. Even more so when they’re on their home turf. Well, Captain Tom LaCognata from Rockaway Fishing Charters did just that with a recent group of anglers from New York City.

Happy customer Ulrike wrote: “Our group has chartered and fished around the world and I must say that this day stands out as one of our best.” As well as highlighting the sheer number of fish they caught – they “nearly lost count while tallying” – she praised Tom’s professionalism and helpfulness. Ulrike’s already planning to come back to fish for Stripers with Tom as soon as they’re in season. It looks like a new fishing friendship has begun!

Angler Bags an Inshore Slam in Sarasota

Captain Camille Mellot from High Class Hookers recently put his 11th angler on an Inshore Slam since July! His long term client, Mike from Michigan, managed to hook up on the impressive quartet of Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, and Spotted Sea Trout, all in a four-hour trip.

This is far from straight-forward from a captain’s perspective. Not only do they need to know the best places to find the “big four” of inshore species, they also need to get you there, set up the gear, and guide the angler into catching them, all within a very limited timeframe. It’s a testament to their skill both as a guide and an angler. Great job, Mike and Captain Camille!

Which trips have stood out to you recently? Have any of your clients caught a fish to write home about? Tell us all about it in a fishing report or in the comments below!

Cat Tyack spends almost every spare moment she has outside. Whether it's hiking, horseback riding or fishing, she's always looking for her next adventure in the great outdoors. Having been fishing on several continents, her most memorable fishing moment was casting poppers to Mahi Mahi in the shadow of enormous oil barges in the Arabian Sea.
