Located on a stunning 60-mile-long coastal strip on the Atlantic, this place is perfectly suited for an angling adventure. The city might be just over 60 years old, but fishing in Myrtle Beach has already reached legendary heights. We’ll highlight some of the key features of fishing in South Carolina. We’ll hear from some of our local captains who will give us the inside scoop on what to expect, what you can catch, and how to best plan for your trip.\r\n\r\nWith over 180 miles of subtropical coastline, South Carolina is determined to uphold its reputation as one of America’s top fishing destinations. From Myrtle Beach to Charleston and all the way down to Hilton Head Island, this state has a little bit of everything for every type of angler.\r\n\r\nOur first stop along the “Grand Strand” is Little River. It’s a historic fishing village and one of the oldest communities on the Strand.\r\n\r\nIt’s a nice, quiet area, things move a bit slower here, and people are typically friendly, laid back, and easy going. It’s the ideal spot for a relaxing inshore fishing trip. You can also do things like sightseeing on horseback or take a nice boat cruise along the coast. There are also a bunch of cool events you can check out like the Blue Crab Festival, Shrimp and Jazz Festival, and Little River Oktoberfest.\r\n\r\nSo there are a ton of things to do with the family and it’s definitely worth checking out on a day trip or even a couple of days if you have the time.\r\n\r\nLittle River is great for fishing, we’re a short little ride out to the jetties. We have great backcountry estuaries, as you can see. It’s great for offshore fishing as well.\r\n\r\nHere at Any Tide, we definitely just concentrate on all the inshore stuff but you know, if you want to do the inshore thing and the offshore, that’s great as well. Little River is a small town with a proud fishing tradition. The Intracoastal Waterway and its many winding creeks create a sheltered environment for many types of gamefish. The Little River, the river that carries the town’s name, holds a wide range of inshore species as well.\r\n\r\nHere, you can hook up with Redfish, Speckled Trout, Striped Bass, and many more.\r\n\r\nNow, if you move just a few miles down the coast, you’ll hit North Myrtle Beach. This town is known for its great beaches, beautiful scenery, awesome nightlife, and quite frankly some of the best fishing along the East Coast. You’ve got over 15 miles of beach, three popular piers, and a boatload of charters this town’s got a little bit of everything for everyone.\r\n\r\nThe backwaters and inlets of North Myrtle Beach host a variety of fish year-round, including Flounder, Redfish, and Trout. Further out into the ocean you can pursue even bigger game, such as Sharks, Kingfish, Barracuda, and Cobia.\r\n\r\nAbout 16 miles south of North Myrtle, you’ve got Myrtle Beach, which is right at the center of the “Grand Strand.” It’s one of the most popular tourism hubs of South Carolina and has over 14 million visitors each year.\r\n\r\nThere’s tons of stuff to do like check out the boardwalk, restaurants, bars, you name it. Like its neighbor to the North, it also has a great nightlife and bar scene as well. In terms of fishing, diversity is the name of the game. Inshore, you can expect to catch a lot of the same species we mentioned earlier, including Pompano and Tarpon.\r\n\r\nThere are also plenty of reefs dotted along the coast that are teeming with lots of bottom species. Here, you can catch Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, and the list goes on. If you’re up for an even tougher challenge, you can head 40 miles off the coast and hit the Gulf Stream for an epic offshore adventure. This powerful current funnels in enormous migratory fish, making the chase that much more exciting.\r\n\r\nYou can troll for Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, and many other large pelagic species.\r\n\r\nOur last stop along the “Grand Strand” is Murrells Inlet. It’s described by locals as “a small drinking town with a big fishing problem.” Basically, a drinking village with a fishing problem.\r\n\r\nIt’s a popular family destination, famous for its great air quality, beaches, and supposedly for being home to the best seafood in South Carolina. On top of that, the fishing is phenomenal just as it is on the rest of the “Grand Strand,” so it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re already in the area or passing by.\r\n\r\nWhat sets us apart from everybody else is the fact that there’s so much to do. People come here on vacation to sit on the beach, they come here to fish, we have great offshore fishing.\r\n\r\nWe’re famous for, you know, Blue Marlin tournaments, back in the day. Also, our inshore fishing is incredible. There are local Redfish tours and stuff like that, so we’ve got a little bit of a mixture of inshore and offshore which makes us very unique over, you know, other fishing destinations. With access to a wide network of rivers, creeks, and inlets, you can experience some of the most scenic backcountry fishing that South Carolina has to offer.\r\n\r\nSince these are some of the only waters along the coast that aren’t connected to the Intracoastal Waterway, they are especially clean and healthy. After a long day of fishing, you can check out the famous Marsh Walk and enjoy the local cuisine, have a few drinks, and mingle with the friendly locals. If one thing is for sure, South Carolinians know how to show their visitors a heck of a good time. No matter where you choose to go fishing in South Carolina you can’t go wrong.\r\n\r\nThe “Grand Strand” is no exception, it’s incredibly diverse and has tons of options and opportunities to get hooked up. With about 150 charters to choose from on FishingBooker, you can plan your adventure without the hassle.\r\n\r\nAll fishing charters in South Carolina are licensed to cover everyone on board, so there’s no need to purchase a license on your own. Bait and tackle are usually included in the price as well, so just be sure to bring some sunscreen, a hat, and snacks and drinks for the ride.\r\n\r\nYou’re also covered if you’re fishing off a pier, however, if you’re fishing from the beach you will need to purchase a license.\r\n\r\nFishingBooker makes planning your trip extra easy – with hundreds of local guides, verified reviews, and hassle-free online bookings, you'll save time and money, and experience an exciting day on the water.
