In this month&rsquo;s edition of Captain News, we&rsquo;ll talk about what it means to be bookable on our website and what you need to do in order to make sure your listing gets the exposure it deserves.\r\n\r\nOver the last several years, FishingBooker has been working very hard to promote a level playing field for captains and bring business to those who follow the rules. While we&rsquo;ve previously only required mandatory verification in the US and Australia,\r\n\r\nnow, captains all over the world will be required to upload their necessary documents.\r\n\r\nOver the next couple of months, any listing we cannot verify, anywhere in the world, will become unbookable until we can verify that it&rsquo;s legitimate. We&rsquo;ll cover everything you need to know in order to make sure your verification is up to date so that you stay bookable.\r\n\r\nYou can see whether or not your listing is verified by checking your verification tab. If you&rsquo;re not verified yet, or your documents have expired, you will see a red marker here.\r\n\r\nThis means you need to upload your current documents in order to stay visible to customers.\r\n\r\nYou can also quickly check your verification status by looking at your listing. If you have multiple listings, each one has its own verification status.\r\n\r\nHere&rsquo;s Cat from our Product Team to talk more about how we show customers which listings are verified and what you need to do to stay up to date.\r\n\r\nYou can find a FishingBooker listing pretty much anywhere in the world. But every state, country, and region has different rules about what documentation you need in order to get fully licensed.\r\n\r\nTo be fully verified, here are the documents we need to see: A photo ID. We need to know who&rsquo;s taking people fishing.\r\n\r\nA Captain or Skipper license. This shows us that you have the knowledge and the expertise to take people out fishing safely. Your local charter fishing license. Basically, it&rsquo;s the document that shows that you can take paying passengers fishing, or passengers for hire.\r\n\r\nThen, if you fish on a boat, there&rsquo;s the boat&rsquo;s registration certificate. This means that your vessel is registered with the proper authorities. And finally, there&rsquo;s insurance. At the moment, we only ask for this if it is mandated by the law where you live.\r\n\r\nBut you should know that in the near future we&rsquo;ll start asking all charter operators to submit insurance policies, too. If we have proof that you&rsquo;re a licensed captain, you&rsquo;ll be able to get bookings with us.\r\n\r\nBut, you will only get an enhanced check badge if all your documents are up to date and current. Then, you&rsquo;ll also get a ranking boost!\r\n\r\nBecoming verified is only the first step towards receiving and maintaining customers through FishingBooker. There&rsquo;s a lot of work that happens behind the scenes to help ensure customers get to fish with a quality guide. We want you to be listed alongside other captains that treat their customers with respect. This means, regularly responding to booking requests, following through on agreements with customers, truthfully advertising services, and charging customers fairly.\r\n\r\nIf we&rsquo;re unsure whether something on your listing is accurate, we&rsquo;ll reach out to you to learn more and address any concerns that we may have. We do this through tickets, which you can see in your notification center. Just check notifications in the business section of your app, and important messages will show up here.\r\n\r\nBeing listed on FishingBooker means that we&rsquo;ve manually reviewed your listing, confirmed that you&rsquo;re a legitimate captain, and that we have made sure your services match what you&rsquo;ve advertised elsewhere.\r\n\r\nIt also means you can receive verified customer reviews which ultimately help grow your online brand. But every state, country, and region has different rules about what documentation you need in order to run fishing charters.&nbsp;<\/p><p>So to deal with this, and to standardize verification for guides everywhere on FishingBooker, we&rsquo;ve come up with a system of badges. The badge your listing gets depends on the documents you upload.&nbsp;<\/p><p>To be fully verified, here are the documents we need to see:<\/p><h4 id=\"photo-id\"><strong>Photo ID<\/strong><\/h4><p>If your captain&rsquo;s license has a photo of you, that&rsquo;s enough. If it doesn&rsquo;t, then we&#8217;ll need to see a separate form of ID.<\/p><h4 id=\"a-captain-or-skipper-license\"><strong>A Captain or Skipper <\/strong>L<strong>icense<\/strong><\/h4><p>This shows us that you have the knowledge and the expertise to take people out fishing safely.&nbsp;<\/p><h4 id=\"your-local-or-state-charter-fishing-license\"><strong>Your Local or State Charter Fishing Licens<\/strong>e <\/h4><p>This can be confusing as it can have a different name, depending on where you are. Charter Boat License, All Water Guide License, Party Boat License, Outfitter&rsquo;s Registration, Charter Captain License, to name a few!&nbsp;<\/p><p>But it&rsquo;s quite simple &ndash;&nbsp;it&rsquo;s the document that shows that you can take paying passengers fishing. It also allows you to bring fish back to shore at local ports, and it is usually issued by a government body or agency such as the Department of Natural Resources.&nbsp;<\/p><h4 id=\"your-boats-registration-certificate\"><strong>Your Boat&rsquo;s Registration Certificate<\/strong><\/h4><p>If you fish on a boat, that is!
