Here they are:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Monofilament<\/strong>. Inexpensive and reliable, mono is the standard choice of fishing line for most anglers around the world. It&#8217;s <strong>easy to cast<\/strong> and <strong>tie knots<\/strong> with, and it&#8217;s also fairly <strong>durable<\/strong>. Compared to other types of fishing lines, monofilament is stretchy. This is an advantage when fighting large fish, but it&#8217;s also a drawback since that stretchiness makes the line less sensitive. Mono lines also tend to twist, leading anglers to use swivels, which are visible to fish in clear waters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Braided<\/strong>. Compared to mono, braided lines have no stretch to them, offering<strong> superior sensitivity<\/strong>. They&#8217;re also <strong>strong<\/strong>, <strong>very abrasion-resistant<\/strong>, and <strong>fantastic for casting<\/strong>. However, they&#8217;re also very slippery, making them more difficult to tie knots with. In fact, many standard knots you&#8217;d use with mono will slip when used with a braided line. They also bear a heftier price tag.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fluorocarbon<\/strong>. In terms of stretchiness, a fluorocarbon line falls somewhere between mono and braided. It&#8217;s <strong>easy to set the hook with<\/strong> but it offers a somewhat lower level of sensitivity compared to a braided line. What&#8217;s great about fluorocarbon lines, however, is that they&#8217;re <strong>invisible<\/strong> <strong>underwater<\/strong>, making them a popular choice for leader material. This type of line also <strong>sinks faster<\/strong> than the others, which is great when you need your lure to be near the bottom but a drawback if you&#8217;re trying to fish topwater.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>For beginners, monofilament is the most common choice of line to spool your fishing gear with. It&#8217;s the most forgiving and the cheapest to replace.
