Poverty Sucks Fishing is an offshore fishing charter that specializes in fishing the Maya Riviera all year long. Its multi-lingual crew is fluent in Spanish, German, and English, and eager to show you why this is such a popular fishing destination for anglers all over the world. Poverty Sucks Fishing is a family-run business, and their guests become part of the family too.

You’ll have the pleasure of fishing on a timeless classic - a 53’ Hatteras that’s powered by a pair of 390 HP Detroit engines. She’s quite a beauty, as you can see from the photos, but very comfortable to be on as well. There’s enough room on the boat for up to a dozen people, but the optimal number of anglers is 5-6 when trolling and 4-5 when bottom fishing.

This part of Mexico is every angler’s dream, and Poverty Sucks Fishing will show you why. Some of the species you can target on a standard offshore trip include Mahi Mahi, Blue and White Marlin, Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Kingfish, Wahoo, and more besides. However long you decide to stay on a trip, you’ll always be itching for more, it’s just that good.

You’ll be provided with all the necessary rods, reels, and terminal tackle needed for a productive trip. Food and soft drinks are provided on longer trips, and the captain can provide you with beer ($30 per case) if you let him know beforehand. Make sure you’ve got your sunglasses and sunscreen packed, and you’re all set for a sportfishing adventure.

**There is a new federal fee that will require all customers to purchase bracelets in the amount of $3 per person. Please note that there is a marina and environmental fee as well that is priced at 200 Mexican pesos per person**

When going out with Poverty Sucks Fishing, you'll be fishing with a captain with more than four decades of experience. He's been fishing in Mexico since 1973, and it's pretty safe to say he knows these waters like the back of his hand. He welcomes guests of all skill levels, and is more than happy to accommodate families with children.
