Backcountry Flats Fishing takes you on fishing trips out of Panama City Beach to sample some of the finest inshore fish on Florida’s Emerald Coast. Whether you want to grapple with Tarpon or chase Jack Crevalle, these fishing trips are what you’re looking for. Captain John knows these waters well and will help turn your trip into a lasting memory.
Your vessel for the day is SeaRations, a 16’ Action Craft 1622 FlyFisher Hybrid SE Flats boat powered by a 90 HP two-stroke Yamaha. She features many amenities, including a PowerPole, Push Pole, Lowrance HDS-7 Chart Plotter, a live bait well, and a custom casting platform. This boat is well-equipped to give you the edge over the fish that lurk in numerous back bays and channels. Up to two anglers can come along.
These waterways are home to Redfish, Tarpon, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle, Spotted Seatrout, Sheepshead, and Flounder. It’s Florida inshore fishing at its best. You can hone your fly fishing skills or do spinning if you’re just starting out.
The captain will supply all the fishing gear you need, so you can focus on presenting the bait and fly properly. Bait may include anything from pinfish, finger mullet, live shrimp, and blue crab to pilchards. If you prefer using artificials, Capt. John has a wide selection that includes jigs, soft plastics, crank baits, spoons, and an array of saltwater flies.
Please note that customers are liable for any damage to equipment provided by the charter.
Onboard you will find some water and ice, so you should bring your own food, snacks, and drinks. Hard liquor is not allowed onboard, but you can bring your own beer. Kids are allowed to come along but need to be accompanied by a parent. You should also pack a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera.
