Join Captain Jeff Gibson and Leisure Life Charters for a unique fishing experience out of St. Petersburg, FL. Having fished everywhere from Costa Rica to the Bahamas, Jeff knows all there is to know about catching a variety of local fish species. Whether you’re a beginner or expert, he’ll make sure the trip is tailored to your particular needs.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 2017 25ft Sea Hunt with a Yamaha 300. Along with all the necessary navigation and safety gear, it’s also equipped with a wireless trolling motor for when you need to be careful about spooking fish. There’s plenty of room aboard for up to 4 people, so you can always bring the rest of the family along for the ride. There is also a t-top for shade.

Captain Jeff has more than 20 years of experience fishing the Tampa Bay waters, so he’ll know where to take you for the best results. Some of the species you can find around here include Redfish, Tarpon, Seatrout, Snook, Sheepshead, Sharks, and many more besides.

You’ll be using top of the line equipment, such as Shimano, Daiwa, and Penn reels, as well as Fin-Nor, Allstar, and Redbone rods. When you’re all done, the Captain will clean the catch for your convenience. All you need to do is bring a pair of sunglasses, sunscreen, along with drinks and snacks if you’re so inclined. The fish are biting year-round, so come on down and have a blast!

We had an absolutely amazing day on the water with Captain Jeff! From the moment we stepped aboard, he made us feel welcome and confident, whether we were seasoned anglers or total beginners. He’s friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable about the local waters, fish species, and all the fishing regulations around the intercostal in St. Petersburg. Captain Jeff kept our lines baited, our spirits high, and even managed to keep my kids (12 and 14) completely engaged the whole trip — no small feat! We caught several beautiful red drum (plus some sheepshead, grunt, ladyfish, catfish, trout) , and later that evening we enjoyed the most delicious blackened fish for dinner. The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and Captain Jeff clearly takes pride in giving his guests a top-notch experience. You can tell he truly loves what he does and knows these waters like the back of his hand. If you’re looking for a family-friendly, fun, and rewarding fishing charter in St. Pete, Captain Jeff is your guy. Worth every penny — we can’t wait to book with him again! 🎣

A fun morning out on the water

3 Hour Trip ( Early Morning) on October 25, 2025 • 2 adults

Having been out fishing yesterday and having a great time, I decided to book a last minute charter for today. Luckily I came across Leisure Life Charters and Captain Jeff. The low tide made it a bit tough for the Captain, however he found some great spots where we caught a range of different fish. His boat was great fun, absolutely flying across the water. We were even lucky enough to have some manatees popping up right next to the boat at one stage. Throughout the trip Captain Jeff kept us right with guidance on where to cast etc. All in all a fantastic day and would definitely go out again with Captain Jeff and Leisure Life Charters.

Lots of fish & fun

3 Hour Trip ( Early Morning) on October 3, 2025 • 2 adults

We had an amazing time on our fishing charter today! As St. Pete locals, we really wanted to have a nice day on the water and get some good eating. The whole experience was effortless from start to finish — all we had to do was reel them in. We caught a ton of fish, including trout, a sting ray (oops!), some lady fish (perfect bait), and three big red fish — absolute units. We got to try out different types of fishing and hit a bunch of great spots. Jeff handled everything — baiting the hooks, taking fish off — so we could just relax and enjoy the day. Total princess treatment in the best way. The vibes were great, the weather was beautiful, and Jeff made the whole trip even better. Already looking forward to coming back!

Hooked a Trophy Snook!!!

Half Day Trip (Extended) on July 4, 2025 • 4 adults

Captain Jeff was very knowledgeable and helpful and got us on to fish from the start and throughout the day. We took the 5 hour morning charter with our 25 year old son and his girlfriend and caught a variety of fish. Captain Jeff was quick to get all poles baited and fish in the boat and just on top of everything so we could keep fishing. Our son had the time of his life reeling in his beautiful catch, a trophy snook!! We all enjoyed the charter, the boat was clean and well kept, and quality rods and reels supplied - we couldn’t ask for anything better!! Highly recommend Captain Jeff and his charter service - such a fun outdoor activity for families and all ages!!

Great Morning Trip with Captain Jeff

Half Day Trip (Morning) on June 24, 2025 • 3 adults

I would highly recommend Leisure Charters with Captain Jeff. He had us on the fish early and often. Once he said, “expect less boating and more fishing” I knew it was the charter for us. We probably caught about 35 fish in 4 hours including multiple different kinds of fish (speckled trout, jack, squirrel fish, catfish, grunter, red fish, and lady fish). We fished with shrimp for a while and the fish were biting like crazy. We then cut up some lady fish for bait and caught a red fish. Captain Jeff was easy to work with, very knowledgeable, constantly baiting our hooks and removing the fish with speed. If traveling back to the area, will book again with Captain Jeff.
