Where do I start? The fishing, lodging, meals, and Al’s hospitality are second to none!

Let’s start with the fishing. Harry Lake is very special. It does not take long to get from one fishing hole to the next and there are so many of them. What can I say; fish in the boat were numerous and large. Harry Lake Lodge is the only lodge on the lake. With no road access you have total exclusivity. I love the feeling of being with my friends knowing we are the only ones fishing the lake.

The lodge is totally up to date with a new facility for guests. How about every bedroom having its own three quarter bath! Add hot tub, sauna, internet, and other important features and you are right at home in a very remote area of Ontario. And let’s not forget the quiet solitude.

The Captain is also a chef. No one can prepare fish or any meal for that matter better than Al. You catch walleye or pike and he will prepare it for your shore lunch or dinner. It will be the best fish dinner you ever had! If you would rather have steak or something else he can do that as well.

Al has a way of making you feel right at home. He strives to make your trip a memorable one.

This is lake fishing at its best. The Captain knows the lake thoroughly, its good fishing spots and its dangers. (Harry Lake was carved out by the glacier so the water depth changes quickly. He has placed buoys in shallow or rocky spots.). it is hard to convey the how beautiful is this lake - the very blue water and the surrounding pine forest. Not another camp or lodge on it, not another boat or person fishing. Loons calling. We caught lots of fish, mainly walleye and northern pike. We ate the smaller ones (expertly filleted by the captain) and, of course, released the big ones. Captain Al is also a gourmet chef and every meal was great.  The facilities are pine paneled and brand new, each bedroom with its own bath and plenty of hot water.  Meals were at a big pine table where we shared the days events and photos. There was also sensational blueberry picking close to the lodge and we feasted on blueberry pancakes and desserts. (High speed Internet was available but I put all my devices away and just ejoyed the sounds and sights of the lake.)

We spent a week at Harry Lake Lodge in August 2018, and the experience was great!  We had the beautiful lake full of fish all to ourselves.  The cabin was new with a bathroom for each bedroom.  Al is a very good host.  He took good care of us and kept us well fed with a different menu every day.  All we needed to do was show up; he took care of the rest.
