Puerto Rico Magic Tarpon
In business since 2004, Puerto Rico Magic Tarpon Charters is one of the largest light tackle operators in the San Juan area. Conveniently located near the La Torrecilla and San José Lagoons, the company offers some of the best Tarpon fishing you can find.
They operate in an area that is not only inhabited by large numbers of Tarpon and Snook but is also surrounded by stunning wildlife and nature. The calm waters of the lagoon make seasickness unlikely and the area is easily accessible by car.
Brothers Karim and Armando Chaar operate Puerto Rico Magic Tarpon fishing charters. They have both been fishing the local lagoons since they were children and have since then been featured on numerous TV shows on ESPN2, Sunsports TV, and Worldwide Fishing Network. They focus on providing professional and courteous service using high quality, well-maintained fishing gear on clean and well-equipped boats.
The company operates a fleet of 5 light tackle inshore fishing boats, amongst which is the 22’ Pathfinder. This boat is perfect for light tackle fishing in the area – it’s equipped with comfortable seating and offers a dry and comfortable ride through the lagoons. Equipped with a Garmin fishfinder, two livewells, and plenty of storage, the boat is also furnished with the full range of required safety equipment.
Puerto Rico is famous for its Tarpon fishing with good reason: the Silver King can be found in the lagoons all year round and there is virtually no offseason. Other fish that might be found in the lagoons include Snook, Jacks, Ladyfish, small Barracuda, and some Snapper.
Puerto Rico Magic Tarpon tend to use live bait, which is usually caught as a part of the trip and can include Threadfin Herring, Anchovies, and Sand Perch. They also use a variety of artificial lures and make their own flies for fly fishing. Most of their light tackle is Shimano and Penn, while Scott, Sage, and Orvis rods are used for fly fishing.
