Salsa - 27’ Escapade in Tamarindo
Salsa - 27’ Escapade in Tamarindo
About this listing
Escapade (Cuddy cabin) originally built in 1999, and restored in 2013. Powered by 250HP Cummins engine.
The Salsa has a fast single 225 Cummins diesel and a wide 10’+ beam so it’s roomy and stable. Lots of shade makes it comfortable. It’s our no-frills boat for the angler on a budget, but with the same Shimano and Penn International fishing gear as our other boats.
Leo Rosales, the captain of the Salsa, has more than 15 years of fishing experience in the area. His English is good and his fishing skills are excellent, whether you want to catch billfish, fish grouper or go after roosterfish.
On the Pacific coast of Costa Rica since the 1970’s, Randy Wilson pioneered the sportfishing in this area with TAMARINDO SPORTFISHING. Located close to the deep water, Tamarindo is the perfect base of operation. Spectacular year ‘round fishing for sailfish, marlin, dorado, yellowfin tuna, roosterfish, cubera snapper, wahoo and assorted other inshore species - all accessible with a short run time. Spend your day fishing, not running towards the fish!
All equipment is top of the line with Penn International and Shimano tackle. We are happy to accommodate novices and families, as well as experienced anglers.
Conservation of the resource is important and we use techniques to make sure the billfish are released unharmed. With edible fish, we are happy to keep your catch filleted and on ice for the day so you can have it cooked at one of Tamarindo’s many superb restaurants.
20% deposit charged upfront by FishingBooker to guarantee your reservation. The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the captain on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods: Cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express.

Captain Leo was great. He took us out to do what we asked and delivered. We caught a striped Marlin which was our goal. For as seldom as they are caught we could only have done it with a very experienced captain. He took us to exactly where we needed to be. Once we landed our fish he took us to several areas that the kids could have fun and feel in fish too. 10 stars out of 10. Would recommend to anyone looking to deep sea fish on the west coast.

Leo was a great guide! We wanted to catch some sailfish when we got out there and he put us right on the fish. We caught five of them very quickly and it was an enjoyable experience. After that, we caught five or six skipjack. It was a very windy day on the water but still beautiful and fun. We tried fishing the bottom for red snapper and grouper, but I think the wind had something to do with fishing the bottom.
All in all it was a great day and Leo showed us a fun time. We highly recommend him and definitely plan to book future trips with him on the Salsa!

The trip was great, we got some grouper, the weather was perfect. Nothing to complain about. The boat was good as well as captain Mike. Mike was honest about opportunities and probabilities of which species to catch. It was choppy by afternoon and took that into consideration. Petra was pleseant to work with. Very timely responses and professional
