Maverick Sportfishing welcomes you down to the sunny shores of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. They invite you aboard the “Open Fly” for an unforgettable day of deep sea sportfishing. Battle Blue Marlin, Pacific Sailfish, and much, much more aboard the company’s flagship vessel.
The Open Fly is a 50’ Maverick sportfisher built in 2017. The vessel is powered up to 35 knots by twin Caterpillar engines putting out a staggering 2,000 HP between them. She can carry 10 guests in air-conditioned comfort, with spacious staterooms, a full bathroom, galley, saloon, and more. Who says fishing can’t be luxurious?
But don’t let the glamor fool you. At heart, this is still a blue-blooded sportfishing machine. The Open Fly features the latest marine electronics to get you locked on the fish, and a full battery of outriggers and downriggers for world-class trolling spreads. She also has a livewell and tuna tubes to keep any baitfish fresh, and a fighting chair to let you hold your own against monster Blue Marlin offshore.
But anyone can buy a big boat. What makes Maverick Sportfishing special is the skill and experience they bring to every trip. Operating a fleet of boats out of both Herradura and Quepos, they work with only the best captains and crews to make sure you catch some real monsters on your trip. They’ve been doing this for over a decade and have caught some real once-in-a-lifetime fish over the years.
You will be supplied with tackle for anything from trolling to bottom fishing and (with prior notice) fly fishing. All trips come with snacks and drinks, and full days also have lunch added to keep your strength up. All you need is a fishing license, but you’ll want to bring sunscreen and sunglasses, too. And don’t forget your camera, because this is a trip you’ll want to look back on for many years to come!
