Every fishermen or fisherwomen knows Mother Nature is truly in charge when on the water so unfortunately due to being in this beautiful country for a wedding Saturday was my only free day and when I seen 30 mph winds with gust up to 50mph I knew it wasn’t going to be fun. That’s was until I met our capt and mate who were amazing people and amazing fishermen. With rough conditions Capt still put us on some mahi mahi. So after gathering myself from throwing up for the 5th time I was amazed to turn around and see that we’re hooked up with 4 rods tight and at that moment I didn’t care how I felt it was time to put some fish on the deck. Just to show how gracious and considerate the captain was he offered to take me out another day free of charge because we came in couple hours early because I gave up. It was my wife’s first time on a chartered boat and I’m not ashamed to admit she handled the conditions much better then I did. To answer the question if I were to recommend Samaki to others my answer absolutely, I’m actually considering doing another trip myself as I sit here writing this review in my hotel room(weather permitting).

Captain Enrique of Samaki Charters runs a great operation. The communication from booking up until departure was top notch. He reached out the day before our charter to let us know the forecast was for a windy day with rough (seas at 6’ at 5 second intervals) and asked if we would like to reschedule. We opted to go as it was not an issue of safety but of comfort. All four of us are glad we did! Captain Gabriel, along with deckhands Luis and Little Pollo are all amazing. From the moment we left the marina they were all friendly, approachable, BUSINESS! The day was a methodical targeting of larger and various species. We caught our first Bonito within 10 minutes of the lines getting wet. After we landed several more, and a few near misses, we stopped to catch some sardines and fish them amongst the bait schools. Then Bam! Sailfish on! After a great fight, my dream of landing one of these majestic fish was realized and this beast was released safely back into the sea. Then we started targeting Baracuda and Wahoo, with success! Fishing with Captain Gabriel, Luis and Pollo is like fishing with your friends. The seas for most of the day were as rough as advertised, and they did their work with smiles, jokes, and determination. And it was WORK. Work to stay balanced, run the lines, get the bait on hooks, stay on the fish, and haul the monster fish over the rail onto the boat. And when the seas calmed down in the late afternoon, Pollo got busy in the galley and prepared from scratch the two best Ceviche’s I have ever had. I will never book with anyone but this crew in Cancun, period.

Don’t hesitate to book with Samuki - we’re a family of 5 from the Westcoast of Canada - and the captain and crew we’re the best ! You can tell from the pics and videos .  Be prepared to take gravol as it was super rough out there - and although my hubby and one kid ended up throwing up - Pancho was amazing to make everyone happy - and make the rough waves worth it with 5 giant catch :  3 barracudas - the big daddy was supposed to reeled in by my 10 year old but dad had to step in as it was a fighter .  But my other 10 year old and 12 year old also reeled in their catch as well .  And the captain does double duty of captaining as well as placing the line strategically - and he was the one that caught us the giant Barracuda.  Make sure to bring your tip and the balance owing in cash - as we had to head to bank to pay captain - so just a little tip for you to be prepared - no credit cards. 
We’ve used fishing booker before in San Diego and this time in Cancun it did not disappoint - so don’t look any further than our pics and videos and choose Samuki - so fun ! Every vacation, I like to go fishing at least one day. I have had many ok or miss days. Always I have a good time out in the ocean with friends. This charter was cool. Manuel and Chencho were awesome. They really care about fishing. We missed a couple, but got the one that was for all the marbles. Just takes one. Manage to snag a rare species of reef fish. I forget the name😉Chencho. 100% great day, these guys won’t disappoint you. I’ve used Fishingbooker many times. Remember to see about rides from the marina. Took me a bit before I walked out to the circle to catch a cab home. I didn’t have that figured quite yet. The ocean was a great calm day. Tranquilo. Thanks and yes, definitely use these guys. My friends and I really enjoyed our 4 hr fishing charter with Samaki! Captain Enrique was VERY accommodating even before the day of our trip & answered any questions I had. The boat itself was maintained very well & the marina it was in was beautiful even though it was further out of our way than what we realized. Getting a cab to our resort afterwards was a breeze! The crew members were super nice and we had a few laughs together between reels! Highly recommend!
