As Captain Gabriel Alcaraz likes to say, “Fishing is 50% luck and 50% passion.” His Super Panga Tres Estrellas has good luck. The only thing that’s missing is your passion!
Captain Gabriel runs the trips with his son and uncle. The crew are all bilingual professionals who want to catch fish as much as you do. Capt. Gabriel has been mastering the waters of Puerto Vallarta for 2 decades. His professional repertoire includes the Banderas Bay and the productive fishing grounds offshore.
The local waters hold great numbers of fish all year long, although some species bite best during certain months. You will be able to get your hands on anything from Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, Snapper, and Grouper to Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Marlin, Wahoo, Tuna, and even Needlefish.
Your boat for the day will be a 27’ Center console panga, built in 2011. She comes powered by twin 60 HP Yamaha engines and is outfitted with a fighting chair, snorkeling equipment, top-notch gear, and modern electronics along with tuna tubes and an icebox.
Land some of the world’s most sought-after pelagics with your fishing buddies or combine fishing and snorkeling if you plan a family outing. A day out with Super Panga Tres Estrellas is more than just fishing. The scenery is breathtaking, with birds and whales being regular visitors. The seabed is filled with sea urchins and starfish – which is especially exciting for those who want to take a dip in these prolific waters.
All trips come with the use of snorkeling equipment and fishing gear by Penn International and Shimano. You will also be provided with fluorocarbon leaders, bait, and lures, as well as licenses and a complimentary fish cleaning service. All you have to do is show up!

Half Day Trip (AM)
Pros: They met us at a different doc and explained how to get there. We had Angel and Carlos as our captains. We caught 4 fish right out of the bay. They asked us what we were wanting to catch. They took us snorkeling to break up the trip and that helped with the kids being a bit bored with fishing. They had a plan to catch some mahi-mahi and they seemed to find a school of them, but there were no bites. Cons: I think we were under the impression Gabriel would be our captain but he handed the boat off to his son and helper who were still great. We didn't catch any mahi-mahi, but that's not always in anybody's control. Overall great 4 hour trip. They were willing to adjust and pivot as we requested was really the best part.

We did a half-day trip but wish we'd done a whole day the time flies by. Gabriel was recommended but we ended up going with his son Angel. Everything was GREAT. We caught 4 Skipjacks pretty quickly, saw a mahi we couldn't get to hook then caught a bigger mahi right after and probably would have caught more but ran out of time. When we came in, all the other Tres Estrellas boats had fish. Angel filleted our fish for us and showed us where yo bring it to cook and eat. It was 250mex for a full meal of cooked fish with veggies, beans, etc. Such a great experience! Go with Tres Estrellas.

Half Day Trip (AM)
We chartered this fishing boat for my birthday, and it was hands-down one of the best decisions I've made. We hooked five fish and managed to reel in three—plenty for a fresh feast and even better for the stories. The captain and crew were phenomenal. They kept the lines in the water, the drinks flowing, and the energy relaxed yet lively. What really stood out was how they wove in local knowledge—sharing insights about the fish, the culture, and the land with the kind of ease that made learning feel like part of the fun. The cherry on top? After docking at the pier, the captain personally walked us to a nearby restaurant where our catch was cooked to perfection. Talk about ending the day in style. I'd recommend this crew to anyone looking for a laidback, memorable adventure. I'll definitely be back—and next time, I'm aiming for all five fish in the boat.

3/4 Day Trip – Night Snapper
I can’t recommend these guys enough. Even if we didn’t catch anything I would’ve been happy with how well he read the water and explained his thought process to me. He was also willing to listen to my input and seemed as excited to catch fish as I was. I was originally signed up on a night fish for snapper and grouper but I got a call from the captain who said “look man, it’s not good season for that, I recommend marlin, tuna, or mahi.” So we changed it to meet at 7am. Immediately I learned a lot about the local fishing, tide lines, etc. as we motored out. After talking to some other boats we decided to head farther out where there is a small island. Once we caught out bait (skipjack) it was just a waiting game. As soon as one of the other boats left the captain remarked that the fishing was about to pick up because the skipjack started jumping. Just like that FISH ON! After about 20 minutes we landed a 25-30kg sailfish. Already a dream. We decided to keep going and as the captain said, that was the appetizer. Caught some more bait and ALMOST had what would’ve been the biggest tuna I’ve seen but it didn’t hook, just bit the bait in half! Gave it a little longer before we got another strong bite. As we wondered what it was we saw a giant marlin jump at the end of the line. We hooted and hollered and settled in for an hour and a half fight with a huge black marlin. Got it on board like a pro and we booked it back home with a beer to celebrate. Bring a cooler if you fish with these guys cuz they know their stuff and if the fish are there, they will find them.

Half Day Trip (AM)
The day started off a little rainy, but Captain Angel said don't worry we will get on the fish. We motored out from los Muertos to los Arcos and found a good spot to start trolling. The captain got our baits in the water and within half an hour we had our first bite. It was a double hook up, but the mahi-mahi came off. My son reeled in his first shark! We let that one go but soon enough my son reeled in his first mahi-mahi! We had some other action, saw turtles, lots of bait fish, some jumping sailfish and caught another mahi which we released. A+++ day. Highly recommend these guys!
