If you want to get back to nature and hook some world-famous freshwater fish at the same time, then head down to Brookings, OR and join Captain
Phil Desautels for an incredible angling adventure. On board Phil’s Smiling Salmon Guide Service, you’ll have the chance to drift down some of the Northwest’s most plentiful rivers, take in stunning scenery, and tangle lines with some seriously huge Steelhead and Chinook (King) Salmon!
Capt. Phil has plenty of experience under his belt when it comes to freshwater fishing – he’s a longtime Smith River and Chetco River guide, and knows where the hottest spots around are, as well as being well-versed in the migrational habits of Salmon and Steelhead. He offers seasonal trips targeting these species for anglers of all skill levels, and will teach you successful fishing habits on your journey – you’ll be reeling in the big ones in no time!
Rather than powering off in a high-speed vessel, you’ll be cruising down the rivers in your captain’s 18’ Willie Boats drift boat, capable of accommodating up to 3 guests. This method of travel offers a truly hands-on, relaxing experience – you’ll be able to disconnect from the daily grind and really take in the local nature, as well as the fish that are biting! Your safety is extremely important to Capt. Phil, and he provides life jackets for all ages.
Whether you’ll be targeting Steelhead or Chinook Salmon depends on when you choose to visit. If you want to battle feisty Steelhead, join Capt. Phil from mid-December to March, and he’ll have you chasing this famous fish. Want to bag a huge King Salmon? Your captain runs trips from the beginning of October until mid-December. You’ll be trying out a range of techniques, including trolling, drift fishing, and bottom fishing.
Your trip includes rods, reels, lures, and tackle – all you need to bring is a fishing license. Come aboard Phil’s Smiling Salmon Guide Service, escape the daily grind, and hook yourself the catch of a lifetime!
