For offshore trips, Capt. Chad uses his 24’ Mako Backcountry center console, that can accommodate up to 4 anglers. The boat has been restored in 2017 and she’s powered by a 300 HP Suzuki engine. She’s equipped with outriggers, downriggers, a live bait tank, and also has standard navigational and safety equipment.
The meet-up point is the Mayport Boat Ramp. Depending on the season and what bites best, you can go bottom fishing for Snapper, Grouper, Flounder, Triggerfish, and Cobia. With trolling, you are more likely to catch Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Marlin, and Sailfish in deeper water, or Kingfish, Cobia, and Amberjack if you stay closer to the shore.
You will use Shimano reels and rods that were custom built specially for Capt. Chad. After the trip he will clean and fillet your catch, so get ready for a tasty meal. Offshore trips are not for experienced anglers only – Capt. Chad loves teaching people to fish and he can easily make anyone enjoy their trip, even if it’s their first time holding a rod.
