Spending a day on the water with Macho Sportfishing is one of the most enjoyable things you can do in Herradura, Costa Rica. This charter is a family-run business that combines years of experience in the fishing industry with the desire to provide an amazing customer experience. Captain Diego Leon runs these trips with his father and brother year round.

The Leon family invites you to join them on their 29’ custom built center console that can accommodate up to 4 guests. She’s powered by a 200 HP Suzuki engine and equipped with a fish finder, VHF radio, and GPS. If you decide to take a break from fishing, try snorkeling! The equipment will be ready for you on the boat.

Your captain will show you deep sea fishing, trolling, and bottom fishing – it all depends which fish you want to catch and what’s biting. Your main targets will be the most prestigious offshore species, such as Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, and Yellowfin Tuna, but you could also reel in Snapper or Grouper. Note that Marlin and Sailfish are catch and release only, but other fish can be kept. After the trip, the first mate will gladly clean and fillet it for you.

Capt. Diego will provide you with Shimano fishing equipment, prepare cold drinks and snacks, make sure that the bait is fresh and the boat is clean. For Macho Sportfishing your safety and enjoyment are of the utmost importance. With them by your side, you will be in good hands at all times.
