Fancy yourself as a fly fisherman, or just keen to see what the fuss is all about? Let Firl Outfitters Fly Fishing Adventures show you the craft of fly fishing. Based out of Omro, WI, you'll have access to the productive waters of the Wolf and Fox River, Lake Poygan, and Lake Butte des Morts. Captain John Buser is a fly fishing nut and will bring all the gear necessary to get you reeling in some stunning fish on the fly.
Drift along the shallow waters aboard a 14' Air drift boat. You'll paddle your way downstream or across the lake in search of the sweet fishing spots. Capt. John will even take you to his lakeside ranch, where you'll have the chance to fish for some great species. Everything you need for a productive day will be provided, and you'll even be given sandwiches, snacks, and water and soft drinks to stay refreshed throughout the day.
You'll need all the help you can get when tackling some of the monsters these waters have to offer. Catching a Bass, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, or Steelhead is tricky enough on a conventional rod and reel, so be prepared for an intense battle when you attempt to catch them on the fly. Tough-fighting and delicious to eat, these fish are prizes for anglers the whole world over. Get stuck in and make the most of it!
From the boat or even wading, you'll have the opportunity to mix it up while on board with Firl Outfitters Fly Fishing Adventures. Up to 2 people are welcome aboard, so bring a loved one or close friend and engage in some incredible fishing and bonding time. Capt. John invites you to come and explore the incredible and diverse fishery of Wisconsin's freshwater lakes.

Unfortunately we couldn't catch what we were targeting (Walleye) as they were quiet that day but we caught a decent sized 18" Smallmouth. Just the learning experience and fun conversations are worth the trip alone!

We caught 6 Small Mouth Bass. Whatta buzz! Beautiful river and amazing wildlife. Very relaxing and wonderful. Highly recommend.

My 14-yo was curious about fly fishing, and I'd asked John to stoke her interest. He had her casting nicely within an hour, and even managed to improve my own sloppy technique. The inflatable boat seemed unorthodox but maneuvered neatly and was perfectly stable to stand in, with hefty swivel seats that were comfy even after hours on the river. And yeah, we found some fish! Captain John customized everything to us, something not every guide has the skill or flexibility to do. He called ahead of time to talk about our preferences, then tailored a plan that took into account our skills, the weather and the water. If you're looking for fancy this probably isn't your pick. But if you want to up your game with a likeable, talented coach who knows where the fish are and how to land them, Firl Outfitters is a great choice. We plan to go again!
