The experience was good and the the two gentlemen on the boat were non stop busy keeping the rods baited and in the water. It didn’t take long and we had a fish on but got off close to the boat.(my fault for sure) A little while later we hooked into another and finally we had our first king mackerel in the boat. After trading off for who was up next we had another in the boat (barracuda). My daughter was up next and got to experience the pull of her salt water fish but unfortunately it came off.

Next was snorkelling at the reef near the ruins which was fantastic seeing sting rays and curious turtle’s but…. they should ensure the life jackets are available as it was rough water and difficult to swim for a not so experienced swimmer. The crew then landed the boat and Charly brought us to his restaurant ( El Capitano) for a delicious meal of ceviche and grilled barracuda.

It was a highlight for us all to experience the Caribbean fishing, its beauty and the hospitality by the boat hands and Charly.

My recommendations would be to get clear instructions for your meeting point at the launching area, and know some Spanish language because our crew could barely speak English. The WhatsApp might be your best option for communication with Charly because the FishingBooker App is not as efficient.

Great communication from Charly ahead of time with helpful instructions to locate the meeting point. The staff was friendly. The boat was simple, no frills, but all we needed for 4 hours on the sea. Trolling with 5 lines, we ended up catching 5 barracuda and lost a yellowtail. It was also great to see the Tulum ruins from the sea and on our way back we spent 20 minutes or so snorkeling where all the snorkeling tours gather to see the reef (underwhelming), stingrays (plenty!), and turtles (we saw one as we were leaving). Enjoying a lunch made from the fish we caught (ceviche, tacos, quesadillas, grilled… everyone in our family got what they wanted!) at El Capitan restaurant was the cherry on the cake and made the whole trip a great value for what we paid. I would definitely recommend this company, especially if you’re on a tight budget! The weather was not the best (windy and a bit chilly), but we made great memories nonetheless (best activity of our trip per our 13 year old, and we did many!).

My sons and I had a great time with this crew. This is a full day of fishing for a variety of fish. We trolled for several hours and reeled in many very good-sized barracuda and others. The boat is not some enormous pleasure craft with dozens of folks fighting for time on reels or soft cushions below deck. This is an intimate experience with fishing pros. After our morning haul, we landed at a beach and walked ashore to a primitive bar/restaurant where we drank cold beer while a chef made ceviche and pesca a la plancha (grilled fish). The guides accepted our invitation to dine with us and we got to learn about their backgrounds and more history of the area. In the afternoon, we fished and caught more before stopping for a quick swim at the barrier reef, where we snorkeled with gear from the boat. We swam with stingrays and sea turtles. We were exhausted at the end of our eight-hour day of catching fish, eating fish, and swimming with fish and sea critters. We will be back.

We started out trolling and caught 2 barracuda and a yellow tail snapper while the guides, Finelly and Gabriel, talked to us and shared their knowledge on many different topics like the Mayan ruins and some of the history of the places we passed. Then we snorkled and speared 12 lobster and came across a conch shell. It was neat. We pulled the meat out of it and returned the shell back to the ocean.  We ended up coming to a beautiful beach where Charly has a restaurant and they prepared our catch and presented it to is out on the beach and joined us for the feast. It was spectacular. It has been my favorite experience in Tulum so far. Highly recommend!!!
