The main departure point is on Kootenay Lake but the boat is trailerable and mobile, so you can also fish Slocan, Arrow, and Trout lakes on your multiday trip. These lakes are world famous for producing very big Trout and Capt. Steve knows how to catch them!

“The Happy Hooker” is Capt. Steve’s 28’ Chaparral boat. This cuddy cabin has been newly restored in 2018 and accommodates up to 3 guests. She’s powered by a 260 HP Mercruiser engine that will take you to your fishing spots fast, as it can reach a maximum speed of 30 knots. The boat has all necessary navigational and safety equipment, a private toilet, a small kitchen, and downriggers.

The captain can refer you to several places for accommodations, from 5-star resorts to rustic camping, just let him know your preference. For international guests, he can provide transportation from Cranbrook or Castlegar airports and also recommend accommodations. Or you may want to rent an RV for a week and the captain will travel with you to provide fishing opportunities along the way.

Capt. Steve will provide your fishing equipment and clean and vacuum your catch after the trip. You need to purchase your fishing license in advance and also bring some snacks and drinks for the day. The captain can also bring a BBQ on the boat, while you can bring the meat you want to be prepared for you.

Happy Hooker Fishing Adventures fulfills a lifelong goal and Capt. Steve is happy to share his experience and his lifestyle with you. He looks forward to sharing these amazing trips and introducing these wonderful areas of pristine wilderness to you, in hopes of completing your own fishing bucket list!

I have guided many folks in an unofficial capacity for years and have been asked many times why I did not do it as a professional. I have thought for decades of turning pro and always had the intent. It is not something I take lightly as there is a great deal of responsibility involved when doing it as a professional. It has taken me many years of fishing to gain the experience and acquire all the gear and equipment, licenses and permits to be able to do this in a comfortable way. I am looking forward to the lifestyle of having to go to "WORK" doing my favorite thing in the world. I do like saltwater fishing but that is a completely different ballgame to my expertise in freshwater Trout pursuit and I leave it those with the same levels of experience that I have in my focused area. I have an eclectic background professionally. I am a Gold Seal Project Manager for General Contracting and a mere one step away from having "Master Builder" status through CHBACanada.
