If you’re looking to explore the mesmerizing volcanic island of Cape Verde from a unique perspective, fishing in Mindelo is what you should do. This colorful port town has an incredible nightlife, great music, breathtaking mountain scenery, and diverse marine life. It also has Blue Hunter Fishing Charters Mindelo, specializing in professional nearshore and offshore guided trips.
Captain Manuel Viana is the 2010, 2011, and 2015 Portugal Big Game Fishing Champion with over 22 years of experience. He loves teaching his customers as much as he likes breaking records!
Spend an incredible day aboard his 43’ Riviera offshore sportfishing boat powered by twin 660 HP Caterpillar engines. This fishing machine can take up to 6 anglers with 4–5 rods in the water at the same time.
The boat comes with a big flybridge from which the clients can see all the action. It also features 2 restrooms, one in the front cabin and another in the salon. On board, you’ll also find a kitchen and beds. The boat features outriggers, a fighting chair, a livewell, ice-boxes, top-notch marine electronics and safety gear, and even a TV and AC.
Your trip will start from Sport Fishing Club Mindelo with a safety check after which you’ll set sail. The captain usually covers the area between islands of Sao Vicente and Santo Antao and then goes further out if necessary.
He’ll take you Blue Marlin fishing at one of the top spots of the world. Light trolling and vertical jigging for other species are also available. Jigging can be especially effective when targeting monster Amberjack. Your catch list might also include Sailfish, Tuna, Mahi, and Wahoo.
Billfish are catch and release only, but you can keep other species. You can take the catch back to the Mindelo Fishing Club where there’s a really nice restaurant which will cook and serve it.
You’ll be provided with all the gear, bait, and food/drinks. Fishing licenses are not required.
