We didn’t book until late the evening before an early start. The weather and marine conditions fluctuated between decent to horrible. A high tide and occasional downpours made it a tough day. Winds were light to gusty accordingly. Captain Nato is from a multiple generation of Pedrano fisherman.
His mate Sandre kept our spirits up. There was no way we or the crew were going home empty handed. It was work, but Nato knows where the fish will be.
It was longer than the half day we booked, but we landed more than 40 by the time it was over. Boat is smaller, seaworthy, perfect for 2 fisherman and the crew. The day and trip was not perfect, but 5 stars for the persistence is merited.

After 2 previous Bonefish hunts in Hawaii and Florida Keys with zero shots was looking forward to all Belize had to offer. Captain Nato was absolutely fantastic with a novice saltwater fisherman, zero pressure, lots of humor and a multitude of shots on bones. As with everything weather plays a role and he knew every inch of ground to give us the best opportunity out of the wind. He put me on fish and I screwed it up a bunch, but was able to get it done several times and cross off that box. We later had multiple shots at Tarpon and Snook in the Backcountry and made a run at some fleeing permit! It’s the thrill of the “hunt” in this type of fishing and I feel we accomplished all of that and I left Belize with not just a great experience, but also with a friend for life. Nato put me on fish on both a windy day, and a more favorable day. We caught fish, but they were skittish at times & it’s highly recommended you work on your casting. He did everything he could as a guide to give me shots, but they were definitely shy at times and hard to reach without good casts. Sometimes I’m sure they’re less shy & more eager, but he’ll put you in position on fish & the rest is up to you. Had a great time with Nato!

Captain Nato was very helpful in rescheduling our fishing date due to weather.  He arrived at our dock about 15 min late, but he had called ahead to let me know he was running behind, so it wasn’t a problem.  We fished for baby tarpon at our first stop.  I don’t think the migrating big tarpon had arrived yet.  We did not catch any tarpon, but we did have some strikes from small barracuda on the lure.  Initially, we did not hook any barracuda, possibly due to luck, fisherman technique, or dull hook points.  Later we located a good school of Bonefish, but we were unsuccessful in connecting with them.  Finally, we tried a deeper area for Bonefish and/or barracuda.  Finally we did manage to catch a small barracuda on the lure.  We only fished a half day so that limited our options.  The captain did provide water and some small snacks (chips).  At the end, there seemed to be some confusion over the amount owed for the trip since we had already paid a deposit ahead of time, to reserve the guided trip through Fishing Booker.  This was a little awkward.
