You will fish aboard a 22’ Stott Craft bay boat suitable for 4 anglers, that offers a safe and smooth ride on the open waters. It comes equipped with a 150 HP Yamaha outboard motor and a trolling motor, which means it can easily navigate the shallow flats.
Capt. Jim will provide you with all the fishing equipment, as well as lures, live bait, and fishing licenses. If you’re up for some fly fishing, he’ll provide you with Orvis gear, but you’re welcome to bring your own. After a great day, he’ll clean and fillet your catch so you can have a delicious meal upon your return.
When fishing the Sarasota Bay, anglers will drift the flats and cast out live or artificial baits in search of a variety of species. The target species include Trout, Pompano, Spanish Mackerel, Redfish, Jack Crevalle, Sheepshead, Snapper, Grouper, Drum, Redfish, and Flounder.
For those heading to the Gulf of Mexico inshore waters, you will try your hand at drifting live bait, trolling, casting lures, and fly fishing. Reel in Spanish Mackerel, Tarpon, False Albacore, King Mackerel, Shark, and more.
The artificial reefs off Lido Key are very productive fishing spots in the spring and fall. Tarpon season is hot between mid-May to early July, when these beasts migrate through the area. Capt. Jim also offers Snook fishing charters on the Myakka River, where you will fish in picturesque surroundings teeming with native wildlife.
