Surf N Turf Adventures
Operating out of Cotton Ground, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Surf N Turf Adventures offers premier fishing tours, whether you’re after inshore or offshore action. Captain William Guy is a North Carolinian with over 30 years of experience who has fished anywhere from the east coast to the Caribbean. He’s been a participant in numerous tournaments and now he takes place in organizing them.
He and his first mate (also a captain) invite you aboard their 34’ walkaround made by Intrepid Powerboats. Fully overhauled in 2017, it features the latest in marine electronics and safety gear, as well as twin 300 HP Suzuki engines. It also has outriggers, downriggers, tuna tubes, a livewell, an icebox, and even a restroom and beds. The maximum capacity is 12 passengers.
Cotton Ground is blessed with many great fishing grounds close to the shore but if need be, the crew can take you up to 60–70 miles offshore, depending on the weather and the bite. Your main targets will be all the deep sea superstars, including Wahoo, Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, and Sailfish. You can also expect a lot of encounters with Barracuda and Mackerel.
You’ll get to try your hand at various techniques, including slow and fast trolling, bottom fishing, drifting, and more. Spearfishing is also an option if you consult the captain in advance, but being experienced is a must – no novices. If the captain decides it’s safe, you’ll get to spearfish for Wahoo and Tuna in 300–400 feet of water surrounded by Sharks. You can also go snorkeling inshore, depending on the time and weather conditions.
You’ll be provided with top of the line Shimano Tiagra, Penn 50VSW, Avet 30 rods and reels – 7 of them are available. Since the guests usually stay at a hotel and do not have anywhere to store the fish, most of the charters keep the catch, but if you’re staying at a private villa, you can negotiate a nice price for your catch.
Just bring a towel and some sunscreen – Surf N Turf will take care of everything else!
