Blue Lobster
Blue Lobster invites you to visit one of the most opulent fishing destinations in the world and explore it with them. If you’re not familiar with Panama’s fishing traits, all you need to know is that the name of nearby island Taboga means “abundant fish” in the indigenous language.
Captain Gustavo Moscoso is local to this area and he knows every hidden gem. He’ll give a helping hand to novice anglers and teach them a couple of tricks, but his main focus is for people to have fun on his trips and leave the boat smiling. He speaks both Spanish and English.
There are 2 main destinations to choose from. You can go to Taboga Island, which is only 20 minutes away from your launching spot. There’s a variety of fish species to catch there and it’s the best location you can go to if you’re a beginner because the action is slower than on the other island.
This brings us to Otoque island. You can catch big Yellowtail, Snapper, Grouper, Barracuda, Marlin, Roosterfish, Tuna, and lots more. It takes one hour to reach the spot but it surely pays off. The fish here grow to massive sizes and will always give a great fight.
You’ll be fishing from a 25’ Cobia center console that accommodates up to 7 anglers. The boat was newly restored in 2019 and has all the necessary navigational and safety equipment. There’s also a cooler on the boat to keep your drinks cold at all times.
Make sure you have your ID with you in case the Coast Guard checks the boat. Bring your snacks, drinks, and sunscreen. The captain has a few spinning and trolling rods but he prefers for you to bring your own equipment.

Full Day Trip – Taboga Island on October 30, 2024
We had blast and catched a lot of fish. The crew were really nice and skilled anchlors. They helped us catch mahi's, which was our prized fish. All in all, the expirience was amazing. Could not be any better 10 ot of 10! Big thank you to Melvin and Marco!

Full Day – 20 Fathom and Taboguilla on February 10, 2023
Booking a fishing trip online can be stressful experience - safe parking, safe boat and an honest captain are important. The Blue Lobster meets all 3 - the parking is on the parking lot for the Panama State Police, Captain Gustavo is kind, honest and very responsive - and his boat is fantastic for fishing (I own a couple of boats back in NY as well). The bite was slow (as it is after all fishing not catching lol) but Gustavo tried hard to get us on the bite. Unfortunately even with live bait we didnt' do well. However, we saw amazing scenery, beautiful islands and the canal (we live in NY but are from Panama originally). It was a great trip with a Captain that treated us like family and he is an avid fisherman such as us. We traded some stories and lures lol HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM....we miss our Panama already and our new family - The Blue Lobster Family! :)

Full Day Trip – Taboga Island on March 8, 2022
We met the crew at the public boat dock and headed out to the nearby islands. We had our first fish on minutes later, it was a big red snapper. We caught 4 red snapper, two yellow snapper and a broom tale grouper. All while we were trolling. I was also casting a pop bait and had a couple of rooster fish come after the bait. They took us over to the small community on the large island and we got a bite to eat and a couple of beers while they fileted the fish. We went back out fishing for another 2 hours and caught a bunch of Crevalle Jacks. They had taken over the water so we decided to call it a day. They were definitely fun to catch but they’re not a good eating fish. We had a blast and they definitely made sure we got 8 hours of fishing. Highly recommend these gentlemen.

Full Day Trip – Bottom Fishing on January 30, 2024
From what I was told January was a slow month. Most of the big Fish has moved out, but Captain was still able to put us on some nice size fish. He was able to fill up the whole cooler in the front deck. I will definitely book them again. The captain and the were an awesome team. They kept us entertain, and put us on lots of fish.

Half Day Trip – Bottom Fishing on June 24, 2023
Had a quick stop in Panama City and booked a trip with Gustavo and Melvin. The guys were great and knows their waters well. Two stops and non stop action both times; the keepers were on the second stop. 4 species of snapper caught amongst some other species. The Blue lobster crew were equally or more excited than us with the large fish caught 😆. Something an avid angler can appreciate. Good communication on board and during the booking process. I would choose them again for another trip.
