McArthur River Charters

Get back to basics with McArthur River Charters. Head down the famous river towards the ocean, where you’ll come into contact with the local Yanuga tribe, while discovering pristine nature and wildlife. From wild buffaloes to birds of prey, you won’t know where to look.

And that’s before thinking about the fishing! Out towards Sir Pellew Islands, you’ll battle it out with some monster, delicious fish. Fill the boat with Barramundi, Tuna, Bream, Snappers, and many more, as you engage in a thrilling, productive day of fishing.

Your guide will be Captain Greg Quayle. He moved to the Northern Territory in 1996, specifically to run charters. With over 20 years of experience here, he’s built a great reputation with the locals and knows all the best fishing spots. He promises a memorable day out, with plenty of fish to take home with you.

The 26’ Osprey aluminium fishing boat is just the vessel for these waters. Light yet strong, she’ll power her way across the water tops, getting you to the fishing grounds at record speeds. Up to 10 guests are welcome aboard, and you’re invited to make yourselves at home. Capt. Greg will provide lunch, but feel free to bring your own drinks.

You’re in for a true fishing experience as you bottom fish, troll, jig, spin, pop, or even handline. You’ll start the day by fishing for live bait, before using that to entice the bite of some incredible native species to the NT.

Barramundi, Coral Trout, Bream, Mackerel, Snapper, Longtail Tuna, and Trevallies are just some of the species you’ll be targeting. Strong as they are delicious, they’ll give you a run for your money to get aboard, providing maximum entertainment and serving up a tasty treat at the end of the day.

The crew will clean and prepare your catch, so there’s nothing left for you to do. They’ll even pick you up within a 4 km radius, so get in touch and sort it out. Everything you need is taken care of! Hop aboard McArthur River Charters for an authentic NT fishing experience.

About the Captain

Greg Quayle
McArthur, Northern Territory, Australia
I began fishing at 10 years old. My father grew up at Lake Macquarie, NSW, and taught me to fish there. We use to catch Tailor, Snapper, Bream, Whiting, and Flathead, and I liked to float fish for Mullet in the Hunter River. When I was about 18, I did a lot of fishing at Broughton Island, off the coast of NSW, and I moved to the NT in 1996 and began chartering here.
