Fly Fishing for Bonefish in Hawaii
Captain Makani Christensen and his crew over at Fly Fishing Hawaii invite you to join them for a real adventure on the fly. Capt. Makani has been fishing these waters for more than 30 years and will be happy to show you how things work in The Aloha State.
Join Capt. Makani on his 15’ Andros skiff that runs on a 70 HP Honda engine – this will get you to the fishing grounds before you know it. It’s ideal for the local shallow flats and provides plenty of elevation for proper sight casting. There is enough space for groups of 4 on board, although you will need to take it in turns to fish.
The primary target on these trips is the very fast Bonefish, which can reach speeds of 40 mph. They can get very big in Hawaii. The bigger they are the tougher it is to land one, which only makes it more satisfying when you do. It takes some skill to catch one on a fly rod, so it’s best if you already have some experience when it comes to fly fishing. That said, you are welcome to bring along children aged over 5.
The price of a trip will include all the fishing gear you’ll need for a day out. The rods you will be using are 8 and 9 wt. fly rods, perfect for all sorts of Bonefish you might encounter. Your fishing license is included in the price.
Remember to bring along some sunscreen, a towel, and clothes you don’t mind getting wet in. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks too if you’d like.
Book now for an amazing day out that you won’t forget in a hurry. Join Fly Fishing Hawaii for the ultimate trip.
