Custom Rod Charters is located in a unique area of Port O’Connor, Texas, that enables them to fish the flats, shallow water areas, bays, jetties, surf, and nearshore spots. Captain Freddie Harborth is a native who grew up on these waters, and he can’t wait to share his love of the outdoors with like-minded clients!
Spend the day aboard his 24’ Haynie center console that can comfortably take up to 4 anglers of all ages and skill levels. Powered by a 250 HP Mercury engine, it comes with top-notch safety and navigational gear, a live bait tank, and a cooler.
Most of the fishing is done on light tackle, and you’ll get to try a variety of efficient techniques, including bottom fishing, spinning, and popping, while exploring the bountiful inshore and nearshore waters of the area. Depending on your preferences, the main stars of your trip will be Kingfish, Cobia, Jack Crevalle, Black Drum, Spotted Seatrout, Redfish, and Flounder. In addition to fishing the open bay areas and jetties, the captain also does wade fishing in shallow waters.
He uses a mix of different top quality brands of rods and reels, and has both baitcasting and spinning reels (perfect for beginners). All the tackle is covered by the charter, while live bait is charged extra, and it usually costs around $20–$25 per person. The captain will clean the catch after each trip, free of charge.
There’s no minimum age for children, but the parents should bring a life jacket their kid is comfortable in. The clients should also bring fishing licenses, drinks, snacks, and food. They can either store their things in the cooler that the captain has on board or bring their own.
Custom Rod Charters will do everything in their power to customize the trip according to your needs!
