Bay Roamer Charters

Get ready for an exciting day of fishing with Bay Roamer Charters on the historic Chesapeake Bay. Captain James Seed, a Norfolk native, has been fishing the Bay, as well as the James and Elizabeth Rivers his whole life and is an expert in inshore and nearshore fishing. During the offseason, he’s a school teacher and loves having kids aboard his boat to teach them about the biodiversity of the Chesapeake Bay.

The Bay Roamer is a 21’ Privateer center console, powered by a 200 HP Evinrude engine, designed for versatility, as well as comfort. She comes with a GPS, fishfinder, and flybridge, making her the perfect vessel for sight fishing. She can accommodate up to 3 guests per trip, is equipped with all necessary safety gear, including life jackets, and is perfect for kids and family fishing trips.

Capt. James specializes in sight-casting, trolling, drifting, and bottom fishing so you can choose from a variety of different techniques. You’ll be fishing inshore and nearshore to target Cobia, Redfish, Bluefish, Spadefish, and Spanish Mackerel, as well as bottom fish such as Flounder and Black Drum.

The captain keeps a variety of top-quality rods and reels on board so you don’t have to lug around your own. Live bait is sometimes caught along the way which is very entertaining for kids, allowing them to build confidence and learn some of the basics of fishing before trying to hook onto bigger fish.

Bay Roamer Charters will make sure to accommodate your trip based on your preferences in order to make sure your time aboard is a memorable one. Your fishing license is already included so you can skip right to the fun stuff and start fishing as soon as possible. Be sure to pack some snacks, drinks, comfortable clothing, and other essential items and get ready for a productive day on the water!

I grew up fishing the Chesapeake Bay, James River, and Elizabeth River. Over the years, I've fished from the surf, piers, kayaks, and various types of boats. This has given me lots of knowledge about different species and how to target them. I fell in love with Cobia fishing so they've become a main target of mine over the years. I've been a mate for other charter boats that helped mold me into the captain I am today. I became a charter captain after obtaining my OUPV licenses in order to share my passion with other people and provide them with a great day on the water!
