The northern part of Lake Lanier offers amazing, year-round Crappie fishing! Over the years, Crappie has become one of the most popular freshwater fish in North America, as it is enjoyable to catch it and even more enjoyable to eat it. Captain Josh Thornton has been fishing in the area for over 20 years and he knows all the tricks you need to catch this fish.
Don’t let a Crappie’s size fool you! Even though they weigh 1 pound on average, they offer great nutritional value. High in protein and fat, they are one of the most delicious panfish to eat. Whether you fry it in one piece or fillet it, you’re bound to have a delightful meal.
Capt. Josh welcomes you aboard his 22’ War Eagle Blackhawk boat. Manufactured in 2022, this vessel has all you need for an enjoyable and productive day on the lake. She features all the necessary navigational and fishfinding equipment including a Garmin live scope. You’ll also find safety equipment (including life vests for kids), an ice box, and a live bait tank on board. It’s most comfortable for 2-4 people to fish at the same time.
Crappie trips are available only in the mornings, during weekdays. Capt. Josh will provide your fishing equipment but it’s important for you to purchase your fishing license on time. Bring food and drinks for the day and sunscreen is also recommended.
Capt. Josh is a part of the Fishing with Military Heroes organization and he offers a 10% military discount.
