I booked with Captain Patrick Hemphill though I was a little gunshy because my husband and I had a pretty rough experience with a different charter (not Captain Pat,) but we love fishing and it was our 10 year anniversary. I thought I would give it a shot since he had solid reviews.

Not to beat a dead horse, but when you have had a bad charter, you know a good one. Captain Pat comes prepared and on time. His boat was in the water waiting for us with bait and a plan on where to go already. We didn’t have to spend our time looking through the charts to find a place or wait for him to go gather bait or rig the poles. We went over the safety plan in case of an emergency and then we were off.

Captain Pat has is a career law enforcement officer and has some awesome stories to share! We chatted most of the day off and on by swapping stories because I am in the legal field. What is great is even though we were chatting- he was still watching the bobbers, paying attention to everything going on, casting my rod because I hate that part, watching the direction of the boat, etc. He continued paying attention so we could have a good time.

We really had a great time and I appreciate that Captain Pat fun, respectful, and professional. I expect his business to grow quite a bit as the word gets out about how well he runs his charter.

My 12-year-old son and I spent Saturday, June 18, 2022 with Captain Pat.  As we rolled in to the dock, a storm was approaching and we rode that out in a covered pavillion.  Pat made sure to let us know the clock didn’t start ticking until we were out on the water, and he kept us entertained with great conversation while we waited for the storm to pass.  When we got out on the water, he worked patiently with my son—who’s still getting the hang of this fishing thing—and laughed it off as we both missed the occasional bites.  We managed to snare some nice sea trout (which were excellent for breakfast the next morning), as well as a lot of lady fish, jackfish, and catfish.  No luck with the redfish on this trip, but we’ll be back.  All in all a great experience and fun day out on the water at an incredibly reasonable price.

On way to Orlando stopped in Fernandina Beach for a few days with my son and decided to surprise him with a little fishing. We booked 1/2 day with Captain Patrick Hemphill. So glad we did! He was an amazing guide, super patient with us (both novices), kept us safe and made our trip fun. He is very knowledgeable of the area. We lucked up with phenomenal weather. I highly recommend him and hope to be able to book him again in the future.

Took my great nephew and his step-father out on Patrick’s boat. New 25-foot Tidewater craft which is optimally rigged out for great fishing with maximum stability and plenty of room for 3-4 people to cast with no problem.  Captain Patrick had all the bait and cold drinks that we needed. He was very impressive with his knowledge of various fishing spots and was a great person to be with. We enjoyed ourselves very much and would absolutely do it again.

Captain Pat brought us right to where the fish were biting. We caught 2 HUGE Redfish within 30 minutes of leaving the dock. He taught us about the waters, how to cast and how to set a hook the proper way. Captain Pat said “ Don’t Bass Master It” Absolutely a perfect day of fishing.  Thank you, Captain Pat!!!
