Your adventure will be hosted and guided by expert National Geographic guide, Ralph Kirsten. A lifelong fisherman, Ralph will have you exploring the waters of the Kowie River from his houseboat, where you’ll also be able to relax and catch up on your sleep. There’s a double bed, kitchen, full bathroom, and plenty of other amenities that’ll have you feeling right at home. Feel free to speak to your guide for more information about your accommodation.

You’ll also have access to Ralph’s ‘fishing tender’ boat, which is smaller in size and can get you into some seriously remote, unfished waters. Depending on how long you’d like to fish for, you’ll have the chance to target anything from Grunter, Kob, Garrick, Shad, Musselcracker, and more. The further you head out onto the river, the more tropical the species get! You’ll use a range of techniques to hook your catch, so if you have a preferred method, just let Ralph know.

Every trip is an all-inclusive package, so you’ll be provided with everything you need for an awesome adventure: rods, reels, a variety of bait, and a fishing licence, as well as full meals and drinks. Just arrange exactly what you’d like to eat and drink in advance. You’ll be able to keep your catch as long as it’s within local limits, and Ralph will even cook it for you and prepare it the South African way – served with chips and tabasco sauce!
