My wife and I had an awesome experience aboard the Luminare. Pedro and his crew were extremely knowledgeable of their craft. We ventured off on the extreme offshore trip and always felt we were in excellent care and the presence of great hospitality. Fresh sandwiches, fruit, and beverages kept our appetites and thirst at bay all day. We started out with a bang after a 1 1/2 out into the deep water within 30 minutes I was reeling my first Sailfish (104”). We had several bites from other Sailfish and Marlin but the unfortunately the fish did not take the hook. The crew was disappointed that they we didn’t catch more fish Nevertheless It was a successful trip in my eyes. The crew worked their tails off changing many different jigs, live and cut baits after we trolled for awhile with no action. I have fished fresh water streams in New Mexico, Colorado for Trout to salt water bays in the Gulf of Mexico for Redfish, Sea Trout. Fished for Tuna and Mahi in the deep waters of Hawaii, Halibut and Salmon in Alaska. At the end of the day you can’t catch them all. I highly recommend Pedro and the crew of the Luminare and will return to reunite with my new friends and fishing guides in Costa Rica, PURA VIDA!

My daughter, her 3 friends and I went out on the 60 mile trip. Absolutely worth the extra money to go out to the deeper water- odds increased exponentially.
None of the party had ever big game fished - total novices. Yet the crew put us on and assured our success.
We caught 2 bull mahi, 1 female, 2 sailfish and 1 Marlin. The largest measured 8’9”!
The crew was very attentive to every need. The lunch sandwiches were undersold as “ham and cheese”. In truth,  they were salami and porchetta ham with sharp- ish Gouda cheese. Very tasty, who ever made them needs some credit.
Don’t short cut your trip, go the extra two hours and bring home a memory you will not soon forget!

Captain Pedro was very easy to work with, knowledgeable, and was in constant contact with us from the very beginning of the booking. He was upfront that getting into billfish could be hit or miss, but he would try his best to get us on some billfish before focusing on Mahi Mahi or Tuna.

WELL, Captain Pedro and his crew came through!! Within an hour, we hooked up and landed our first Blue Marlin!! Then, in another 30 mins, we hooked up on our second Marlin, but it shook off the line. Lastly, to finish the day we landed a giant 400+ lb Blue Marlin!! Needless to say, our arms and legs were shot from fighting these monsters!

Captain Pedro and his crew was absolutely amazing and worked extremely hard to get us on these fish. The equipment, boat, fishing gear are top notch!! I would highly recommend Luminare Sporting Fishing for your fishing adventures in Costa Rica!! I will return to Costa Rica and use them again for sure!

We booked the Extreme Offshore Trip on the recommendation of another guest at our hotel who showed us pictures of a boat full of Mahi and Tuna. By 8:30 we were trolling a bit off the mouth of the Gulf of Nicoya with a massive spread of lures. We switched to live bait after we came across a school of Tuna around 9:30 and got our first 3 fish in the boat(pictured here). We started trolling around for a bit with no luck. We found the tuna again around noon and the crew switched back to live bait. From noon-2pm we caught another 13 tuna all 15-20lbs. we were back on shore by 3pm. Thanks Captain Pedro and all the crew for a great day.

Excellent!!! The Luminare was one of 6 charters I was on in Costa Rica last year and they are the only one that I chose to book with again on this years trip. Great communication all along. The boat has it all, comfort, speed, and all kinds of top of the line fishing equipment. The crew takes care of everything and works hard all day. If I am lucky enough to make it back to Costa Rica the vacation would be centered around another trip on the Luminare. Thank You Pedro!
