LegASea - Megabites Fishing Charter

(7) In high demand!
Westhaven Dr
Auckland, New Zealand

We are an Auckland based fishing charter company that provides recreational saltwater fishing trips departing from Z Pier - Westhaven Marina in the heart of Auckland City.

To make your experience a memorable one we have quality charter boats and experienced skippers who have fished the Hauraki Gulf for many years and can maximize your chances of landing that trophy fish.

It does not matter what your experience levels are as we cater for both the experienced and the novice.

We specialize in fishing for Snapper and Kingfish and we have various trips to choose from depending on the species you wish to target.

Our boats are fast, clean and comfortable and we cruise at 22 knots which means you get to the great fishing locations quickly and you get more fishing time in the day.

Our charters boats run daily depending on the weather and we do short fishing trips for a few hours or whole day trips for the serious fishos.

“MV LegASea” is a Custom-built 9.2 meter White Pointer Boat in a survey for 10 persons but prefer having a max of 8 on board to give everyone enough space to be very comfortable. We do not like packing up our charters with unrealistic numbers that would make it uncomfortable for everyone on board.

With a passion for fishing that goes back many years – Megabites Fishing charter Ltd established the company in 2006 and has been a solely NZ owned and operated company ever since. My fishing experience started when I was very young and fished Rivers, lakes and estuaries as a boy. Getting out on the high seas was a thrill that I took to and soon enhanced my career by joining the ships. Always learning new fishing skills and techniques that the world has to offer.

Darell is a professional who knows his waters and knows his fish. His quiet manor fills you with confidence (especially when taking a 9 year old) and we caught a broad cross section of fish from gurnard to snapper and kingfish.
I found him to be a good bloke who loves what he does and his enthusiasm is infectious.
I wish him all the best and tight lines

Great day on legasea windy and very strong currents on the day but captain Darrel was prepared to move from spot to spot until we caught fish. Everyone on the boat caught something mostly snapper in all great day. Thanks Darrel

Average conditions, slow start but fantastic end result
Tough to beat next year
Great boat, 6 best number
Great to see that the skipper travelled to a top spot could have easily stayed close to the shore due to the wind
