As someone else noted, we’d like to give Captain Mat more than 5 Stars !! 

It’s always great to see a professional at work and Captain Mat is just that. He can’t control the weather and he can’t make the fish bite, but short of that he’s got everything else covered. Mat is laser-focused on locating the fish and getting the lines wet as quickly as possible. His head is on a swivel, just be ready to match his energy !!

Mat quickly relocated us from our 1st stop and at the next spot the first King Salmon was on before he could get the 2nd line out!!

Would highly recommend Messin’ Around to anyone who wants an experience on the water with a professional guide who knows and enjoys what he’s doing !!

I just wish I could rate Capt. Matthew higher than 5-star!  He did everything you’d hope a 5-star capt would do.  He cheerfully taught us how to watch for hits on the line, how to hold the rods securely and how to reel in the line without allowing the fish to spit out the hook.  He took us to where the fish were biting and moved us to other spots if the area became too congested with other boats, he knew of so many hot zones for fish that others missed.  He watched carefully to ensure we had the chance to pull in the fish independently but also quickly stepped in to unobtrusively support us if we started to struggle.  There were even a couple of times when irresponsible boaters acted in ways that could endanger us.  Capt Matthew always knew what was happening around us and made sure we remained safe.  All those actions were 5-star and the capt did them… then did the extra.  We’d brought along an enormous wheeled cooler crammed with food, ice and drinks.  Capt Matthew jumped in the help lift it around dock poles and onto the boats, both at the start of the trip and after.  And after we’d caught our salmon limit, thanks to the capt, we still had time left on the boat so he offered options to continue the fun while adhering to fishing rules, including a custom boating tour of coastal areas known for wildlife viewing.  Most impressive was his compassion.  I had an unexpected mobility problem on board and he made a lot of last-minute accommodations to help me when I insisted the trip continue.  At the end of the trip he even provided the muscle power needed (along with my son) to get me onto the dock.  He then escorted us to the parking lot and dealt with the monster cooler, just to make sure we’d be OK.  I’ve been on many charter trips in my life and they’ve been great.  But I’ve have never had as much fun or felt as valued as as did with Capt Matthew.  Folks, if he’s available, I recommend you reserve your spot ASAP!

Had a great time with Captain Mike, his boat, equipment and skills were defiantly top notch. started out on a foggy morning couldn’t see more than 100 feet in any direction. top electronics kept us safe form commercial and fishing traffic. Captain Mike really knows the area we had two keepers in the boat within an hour and landed 2 more before the trip was over. also got a few kings on the lines but they were out of season and per Washington regulations were released at the water line, couldn’t even bring onboard for a photo.
back at the dock my wife and daughter really liked interacting with lucy to local harbor seal whom instinctively knows when to follow the charter captains back for a free lunch.

Great trip would highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure on the water

Captain Matt was excellent!  It was very clear he was a skilled Captain. His personality was great for us rookie fisherman. He was patient, explained things and tried several different locations to help us hook a salmon. We left extremely happy and we would recommend his Charter highly to everyone!  We were even able to bring home a nice sized keeper Chinook Salmon which Captain Matt filleted nicely for us at the dock!
