Costa Rica’s fishery is known for its abundance and variety, and if you’re looking for a way to explore it, Juan Mora Sportfishing is a great place to start! Team up with a professional and friendly crew – Captain Juan Mora and his first mate – and let them show you good fishing times.
You can take your pick between half day, 3/4 day, and full day trips and explore different fishing grounds, depending on your angling preferences. Anything from Roosterfish to Cubera Snapper and Little Tunny is available on shorter trips, with Billfish entering the stage here and there.
On full day expeditions, you’ll chase various types of Marlin (Black, Blue, and Striped) and Sailfish – all ultimate fighters and incredibly fun to reel in. There’s a range of techniques that you can try out, including fly fishing, just bring your own fly fishing equipment. Snorkeling is also an option, but make sure to let Capt. Juan know, and he’ll arrange it for you.
The comfortable and stable boat that will take you to your prey is a 27’ Robalo center console, freshly restored in 2019. The vessel is outfitted with a 200 HP Suzuki engine and can sit up to 4 anglers and have them fishing at the same time.
On board, you’ll find quality Penn and Shimano Tiagra tackle, as well as live bait (caught during the trip), lures, tuna tubes, and outriggers. Capt. Juan will supply everything you need for a successful angling trip and he and his first mate will clean and fillet the catch for you after the trip. Tips for all their great efforts are much appreciated.
Kids older than 5 are welcome to join you on the trip, and your guide will provide life jackets for them. Snacks, drinks, and lunch on full day trips are also included in the price. It’s up to you to have a valid fishing license before you come aboard, and pack sunscreen and long-sleeve shirts to protect you from the sun.
Join Juan Mora Sportfishing for a memorable fishing adventure on the plentiful Costa Rican waters!
