Prime Time Guide Service don’t let anything stop them from fishing, not even the frozen lake. Join Captain Benjamin Elfelt on Lake Mille Lacs for the hottest bite in the coldest months. See how Minnesota anglers deal with cold and still manage to have successful fishing trips. These trips are usually available from December–March but they always depend on the weather.
The captain will meet you in front of the Red Door Resort, where you can take coffee to go. Getting to your fishing spot depends on the temperature and how thick the ice is. You can go by foot, snowmobile, or a truck. There’s enough room for six guests but the captain can allow eight guests if you schedule it far in advance.
Holes for ice fishing are mostly pre-drilled but the captain can always drill more of them if the fish aren’t biting and you need to change your spot. If you’re wondering if it’s going to be freezing, Capt. Benjamin got you covered. Tents (with heating) or so-called portable fish houses are always provided and included in the price.
Your main targets for the day will be Walleye, Crappie, Musky, Northern Pike, Largemouth, and Smallmouth Bass. You can clean the catch and the captain will even clean it for you free of charge.
Your fishing equipment is fully covered. Half day trips include snacks and drinks, while full day trips come with lunch as well.
Make sure to wear warm shoes and clothing. Prime Time Guide Service will cover everything else. Join them and let the adrenaline melt the ice!
