Papagayo Fishing – Pola boat
Looking for an unforgettable Costa Rican angling adventure? You can’t go wrong casting off aboard Papagayo Fishing charters with the Mendez family!
Captain Jose Mendez has been exploring these waters since 2000, and now runs awesome trips alongside his two sons and older brother, who are also fishing fanatics. They all take turns in being "the captain," but one’s thing for sure – they’ll all make sure you experience the best these waters have to offer!
Capt. Jose and his family offer a variety of trips out of Playas del Coco, which provides access to some seriously fish-filled waters. Whether you want to hook the funky-looking Roosterfish inshore, or travel up to 10 miles out to deep waters for big game names such as Sailfish and Mahi Mahi, they’ve got you covered.
You’ll be fishing from a 23’ Mako center console, perfect for cruising a variety of fishing grounds. She’s just as effective at exploring offshore waters as she is coastal hotspots. She can accommodate up to 3 guests, making her a great choice for small groups of angling buddies, or a special family vacation. She’s decked out with all the necessary navigational and safety equipment, too.
Depending on weather conditions and the trip you opt for, you’ll get to target a variety of Costa Rica’s fish. Newer anglers can stay inshore and target Roosterfish, usually casting with a spinning rod.
Want to experience everything these waters hold? A longer trip will allow you to cast your line for Roosterfish as you head up to 10 miles offshore, where you’ll troll for Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, and Yellowfin Tuna, as well as indulging in some bottom fishing.
Your captain will make sure you’re decked out with top-quality rods and reels, as well as bait, tackle, lures, and snacks and water. If you opt for a full day adventure, your lunch will be included, too. You don’t need a fishing license, so all that’s left is to come aboard Papagayo Fishing charters and join the Mendez’s incredible fishing family!
