Captain Nick Kirby caters to anglers of all sizes and skill brackets, whether you’re a seasoned saltwater veteran with a vendetta against a certain species, or a vacationing family without any prior fishing experience, looking to learn a new skill and relax on the Destin waterways.
Scallywag Charters is a 22’ Cape Horn Bay Series powered by a 200HP Yamaha, with a maximum passenger capacity of 6 anglers per trip. The boat is outfitted with a custom tower and features full controls for both sight fishing as well as bowfishing. As for navigational and fish finding electronics on board, Scallywag carries a top of the line Garmin 740xs chartplotter-sounder combo, fishfinder and radio.
Captain Kirby specializes in a variety of fishing techniques and methods utilized inside the Choctawhatchee Bay and in the Gulf. On bowfishing trips, you’ll usually target the likes of Cownose rays, Southern Stingrays, Spadefish and more. Inshore trips focus on some of the area’s most popular forage, including Redfish, Sea Trout, Sheepshead and Black Drum, while nearshore charters see you going against the elusive King Mackerel, Red Snapper (during the season), Vermillion Snapper, Grouper and many others. Scallywag also offers specialized catch-and-release Shark fishing trips, although some Shark species may be harvested with a purchase of a Shark Tag.
The prices include all the necessary fishing equipment, as well as both live and artificial bait for the day. There are many different species of live bait that you could be using, depending on the season, the species you wish to target and many other factors. That’s why it’s not uncommon for Nick to be utilizing more than half a dozen different live bait species during the same trip.
If you’re ready to cast off on a memorable fishing adventure, book a trip with Scallywag Charters and see just how diverse a fishing journey can be!
