AK Fishing Trip is based in Cook’s Bay, Paopao, Moorea. Join Captain Afton and her team for a perfect day of fishing. You can choose between “à la carte” or in “adventure” discovery trips, depending on how skilled or curious you are. There’s something for everyone here and anglers of all levels of experience are welcome to join.
You’ll be fishing on a 19’ Blouin boat that accommodates up to 4 anglers. She’s powered by a 115 HP Mercury engine, features modern navigational electronics, and has a cooler for the catch.
Capt. Afton’s specialty is buoy fishing in tuna holes, using hand line technique. You’ll haul your catch using the strength of your arms! This is a traditional type of fishing in French Polynesia, and the crew tends to keep it as authentic as possible. They do not use mechanical equipment for reeling the lines, just their own hands.
You can also go after Mahi Mahi using a harpoon, which is also one of the preferred techniques among locals. This skill is being passed down from one generation to another, as you need to have lots of knowledge about certain bird species, notice their movement, and recognize when it’s the right time to strike.
There are other, more common fishing techniques, such as jigging, trolling, popping, bottom fishing, and more. It all depends on what you want to do (or what you want to catch).
The crew covers your fishing equipment, light snacks, and soft drinks. You’ll need to prepare your fishing license and bring sun protection.
You’ll rarely have the chance for a fishing trip like this. Use it wisely. Ak Fishing Trip Moorea awaits!
