Get yourself out fishing on the Pamlico Sound. This Atlantic archipelago provides calmer waters to fish upon and Captain Butch Barber is here to help you do that.
To get the job done he has a Carolina Skiff center console which is perfect for the nearshore fishing that you’ll undertake. It’s a nimble craft that can skip around the sound up to 40 knots meaning you can drive around to Captain Butch’s favorite spots in no time at all.
When you’re out with Captain Butch you’ll be using light tackle to try and reel in the likes of Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, and Striper. Bottom fishing, trolling
jigging, popping, drift fishing, and flounder gigging are the types of techniques you’ll use with butch and he’ll demonstrate how. You won’t fish too far off the shore as the fish like to stay just by the island water. Additionally, Butch also offers clam digging and shelling trips if you ask him beforehand.
Captain Butch use Ugly Sticks rods and Penn reels to get the job here. You won’t be using live bait to tempt them but lures instead. Your fishing license is also covered on this trip. If you’re not too used to gutting your fish then it can be done at the marina for around $40 extra
Stock up on some food and drinks and prepare yourself for a fantastic day of lagoon fishing out on the Pamlico Sound!
