Description

The remote Cobourg Peninsula, an hour flight from Darwin, is known as one of Australia’s best fishing destinations. Cobourg Fishing Safaris (operated by Venture North) offer a very exclusive fishing experience with fly-in/fly-out fishing charters, catering to only one group at a time. Based out of Venture North’s unique safari-style camp, Cobourg Coastal Camp, you will enjoy stunning views overlooking the bay of Port Essington.

The Parks boasts diverse marine environments, which means that there are plenty of fishing options. Barramundi and Mangrove Jack can be found all year round in the mangrove lined creeks and gutters, although it’s the blue water action that avid anglers are drawn to in this area.

‘Barlu’ was custom built in 2012, and is a 6.8m mono-hull Eliminator Guide Pro, which has been specially designed to suit all types of fishing and marine activities. It is powered by the latest model 225 Yamaha outboard motor, and the vessel can accommodate up to eight passengers, or when fishing, three competent fly fisherman, four competent spinners or six people bait fishing at any one time. The rear centre console provides plenty of space and comfort for guests, whilst the bow boasts a large casting deck that is ideal for sight fishing and marine spotting.

Trips include all the latest fishing equipment* (or you are welcome to bring your own), all meals and non-alcoholic drinks, an experienced fishing guide, accommodation at Cobourg Coastal Camp (twin-share), and all permits and camp fees for accessing Aboriginal land/water. Cobourg Fishing Safaris also provide return airfares between the Cobourg Peninsula and Darwin, and return transfers from Cobourg Airstrip to the Coastal Camp.

*All fishing equipment is provided on a replace if lost or damaged basis
