Explore the mouth of the River Gambia and the offshore waters of the Atlantic Ocean out of Bakau with Janneh Boating and Fishing Co! Depending on what you want to do, you can either head into the river’s saltwater and freshwater areas, or you can head offshore to the deep ocean waters.
You’ll go out on a 25’ Boston Whaler offshore sportfishing boat, restored in 2017. The boat can comfortably fit 4 people fishing at the same time. There are coolers for your food and drinks on board, as well as a live bait tank.
Captain Amaro will provide you with Shakespeare, Goliath, and Penn rods and reels, and he’ll have live bait ready for you. The captain will clean your catch after the trip, and after taking you back to the hotel he will try to have it prepared for a charge.
There are a lot of fishing options in the area. You can explore the saltwater areas of the River Gambia and tick Tarpon off your bucket list. You should let your captain know in advance if this is what you want so they can explore the best conditions for the departure time.
From October to March, you can target Sailfish, Marlin, and Tuna. You can also try reeling in some Barracuda. Offshore trips can be more expensive depending on the amount of trolling you want to do, so contact your captain for more information.
If you’re up for a real battle, you can head further into the river to target Tigerfish. If you’re up for it, the meeting place is a little more down south, closer to the fresh water, so make sure to let your captain know in advance.
The captain will provide sandwiches and soft drinks for you, but alcohol isn’t allowed on the sea. You should bring a towel, lotion, and a hat, so you can enjoy your trip under the hot Gambian sun!
All you have to do now is decide on the adventure you want to have, and come explore the Gambian coast with Janneh Boating and Fishing Co!
