Hooked Up Charters runs group and individual fishing charter trips out of Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf, a pocket of the Pacific Ocean filled with world-famous fish. You’ll be guided by skipper Laurie Powell (you can call him Lozza), who has over 20 years of experience fishing these waters.
Lozza firmly believes in putting smiles on the faces of his guests, as well as helping them catch lots of fish in comfort. Come join him for an incredible adventure!
A fishing tour of the Hauraki Gulf aboard this charter really is the trip of a lifetime, thanks to your skipper’s experience. Whether you’re looking for a shared trip or full day adventure that’ll have you targeting big Snapper and Kingfish, Lozza has you covered.
He welcomes anglers of all skill levels aboard, as well as children age 8 and above, and will do his utmost to customize your experience to suit your needs.
You’ll be traveling on board a 26’ Extreme NZ aluminum vessel, with plenty of room for up to 8 anglers. She’s powered by a single 300HP Suzuki engine. The speed of the boat will limit travel time and maximise your fishing time!
In addition to this, she’s decked out with top-quality navigational equipment, life jackets for all ages, a flushable toilet, and storage space for snacks and drinks.
On both shared and private shorter trips, you’ll be heading up to 50 km offshore, with your usual target being Pink Snapper. Opt for a full day trip, and your skipper will take you up to 80 km out, where the most popular catch is the mighty “Kingfish” (Yellowtail Amberjack).
Lozza recommends that anglers traveling alone or looking to make new fishing friends opt for a shared trip. Newer anglers will benefit from a shorter adventure, whereas hardcore anglers should opt for the full day experience!
You’ll be provided with ice, water, and live bait, with rods and reels being an extra NZ$20 cost. You don’t need a fishing license, so all that’s left is to hop aboard Hooked Up Charters and explore the Hauraki Gulf!
