Marsh Dweller fishing specializes in sight fishing tailing, and belly crawling Redfish in super shallow water. Captain Daniel Kerr has been fishing the waters of St Augustine since 1998 and, although sight fishing is his passion, he’s also proficient in a wide range of techniques including fly fishing, live bait, and artificial lures.
He’ll be able to accommodate for a large range of angler preferences as he also fishes for all other nearshore and inshore species that are in season. So if you’re looking for an opportunity to try out other types of fishing and visit different local fishing grounds, you’ll also be able to do that.
The 4 and a half inch draft of the Beavertail skiff allows Captain Dan to push pole into the skinniest water getting up close to feeding Redfish. The maximum capacity of the vessel is 2 adults, or 1 adult and 2 kids. On a regular trip, everyone can fish at the same time. However, in case you’re fly fishing, only 1 person will be able to fish at a time.
You’ll be equipped with top-notch Penn, Shimano, and Daiwa rods and reels. For fly fishing, you’ll be using Hatch reels and G Loomis rods as well as custom-made rods that the captain makes. Fly fishing has to be arranged in advance. If not, only spinning tackle will be provided. Depending on the availability of live bait, the captain will either get it prior to the trip or catch it at the beginning. Live bait is always included in the price.
Also included in the price is your daily fishing license and catch cleaning at the conclusion of the trip. The only things you should bring are drinks, food, polarized sunglasses, appropriate clothing for weather conditions, and sunblock. Free parking will be available at the meetup location.
Now check the captain’s calendar for openings, find a slot that works for you, and book your next fishing adventure today!
