You’ll be fishing from a 26’ 8" Hewescraft Ocean Pro 240 Hardtop Alaskan style fishing boat, The boat is powered by a 300 HP Suzuki outboard and a 9.9 HP Suzuki EFI kicker outboard. This vessel is known for its durability even in the toughest offshore conditions and is ocean-rated. The pilothouse cabin has a rear bulkhead door and will keep you warm and dry. It has an onboard diesel heater system and a private porta-potty toilet. The boat is equipped with 2 Lowrance HDS 12 units with auto-pilot, i-Troll, a Fish Hawk speed module, and a VHF marine radio. She accommodates up to 6 guests, and kids of all ages are welcome to join in on the action.
Your main target species is Walleye but you may also encounter other freshwater fish, such as Perch and Steelhead. All fishing equipment, lures, and bait are included in the trip. The main technique you’ll be using is trolling crankbaits, spoons, or nightcrawler harnesses.
A Michigan fishing license is required and depending on the bite, an Ohio fishing license may be an option. The Michigan/Ohio border is close enough to chase the bite in deeper waters. You can buy one online or at any local retailer or bait shop. Feel free to bring a cooler for your snacks and drinks as well and be sure to dress according to the weather.
