DIVERSITY is a 14m powercat that fishes the Hauraki Gulf. We take both group bookings and put smaller groups or individuals together to make up day trips.

Day trips are typically 8 to 10 hours long and most of our fishing is done on the drift so you can use all the modern methods of fishing. eg slow jigging, kabura style fishing, drift baiting, live baiting, kingfish jigging and lure towing.

Being a 30 ton catamaran DIVERSITY is very stable and comfortable to fish from with a large fishing cockpit and plenty of shelter.

Capt Damo has over 30 years commercial and sport fishing experience and his laid back approach will have you at ease as soon as you step aboard. There is even a little sign in the cockpit stating
“There is only 1 rule on this vessel. It’s compulsory to have fun!”

Had an awesome day on Charter connection. couldn’t ask for a better day, no swells, light winds and not a crowded boat.
Being greeted by Damo and Corey upon boarding the boat put me at ease straight away.
Damo informed us of our destination and time to get there so that we could prepare our own gear on the way, even though Corey was setting up their gear which we could also use.
Headed up tot the cockpit to get a better view of where we were headed and chatted with Damo with regards to what we could expect for the day.  Damo was very informative and friendly which was great.
Upon arrival at our destination, the bait was all cut up ready for us to use Corey provided us with a quick demonstration on how best to bait the hooks with the pilchard and the lines dropped to the bottom (50m) where fish began to nibble and then bite hooking up pretty much immediately.  (Damo knows where the fish are)  Upon hauling up the fish, Damo and Corey were there to unhook the fish and either throw back, if they were too small or keep if they were big enough.
Damo and Corey were great when it came to untangling lines when a hooked fish decided to swim around other lines when it was being hauled to the surface..This can be quite a chore for us novices to untangle, but it was like second nature to Damo and Corey.
Spent the day drifting in the one spot as there was no need to move.  when we did it was because we had all caught out limit so we started up and went back to port but not before putting out a lure in the hope of catching a skip jack as they were seen in the area.  unfortunately no hook up.

Definitely a great day to be had.

Once again thanks to Damo putting us on the primo spot and to Corey for the hard work of untangling the lines.
