Off the coast of Wareham, the waters are brimming with life, and who better to show you around than Maureen Ann Fishing? Captain Kevin Slattery has been fishing these waters daily for the past 15 years, so you can bet he knows all the best honey holes, and he can’t wait to show you how prolific the Buzzards Bay, Cape Cod Bay, Vineyard Sound, and Stellwagen Bank are.

Join Capt. Kevin on his 31’ JC downeast boat, powered by twin 200 HP Volvo engines. The boat features all the navigational equipment you’ll need in order to get to the fish in the shortest amount of time. There’s a toilet and a bed on board for your convenience, as well as a flybridge to shelter you from the sun. The vessel takes up to 6 people.

Depending on the season and the conditions, you’ll target a variety of different fish species that call these waters their home. You can expect to reel in anything from Striped Bass and Black Seabass, all the way to Tautog, Bluefish, Porgy, Fluke, Squid, and Tuna. Cod, Sharks, and Mahi Mahi are all potential catches as well.

Capt. Kevin will provide you with all the fishing equipment you might need on your trip, as he has a variety of rods and reels. You’ll be fishing using live bait either bought or caught during the trip.

Kids are welcome to hop aboard, and the captain will have life jackets ready for their safety, so don’t hesitate to bring your little ones for some quality family time. You’re welcome to bring your own tackle if you wish, as well as some food, water, hats, and sunscreen so you can relax and fully enjoy your day. Please note that the captain prefers cash to credit cards.

    This trip is good for younger kids and for anyone who wants to get on the water and try out ocean fish in a low-impact sort of way. Depending on the weather and tides we will fish in Buzzards Bay and nearby Cape Cod Bay. We will always catch a few fish and there are big fish in the area and you could easily end up with one of them. We supply everything, poles, bait, etc. We can vary the departure times.

    We target Black Seabass and Porgy in Buzzards Bay. This fishing is fast and furious. We aim for bag limits and generally get them. While we are targeting this two fish, we often get others including Blackfish (tautog) Fluke, Striped Bass, and Bluesfish. We are a 6-person charter and we don't split the groups up or have 'open boat' days. It just hasn't worked for us.

    We will fish in Buzzards Bay and nearby Cape Cod Bay for Striper, Fluke, and Blue. We can fish for all 3 of these or you can decide to concentrate on one. They are all fun species. Even though we are targeting these, we are likely to chase others, including Black Seabass, Porgy, and Dogfish. We usually leave at 6:00 a.m., but we can change it if you want.

    On this trip, we pull up some of our Lobster traps and do some fishing, usually for striped bass if they are biting. If they are playing hard to get we may switch to Fluke, Bluefish, or Black Seabass. We are limited to taking home 15 Lobster per day and you usually go home with that many or close. This is a unique, interesting trip. You never know what will come up in a lobster trap. Departure times vary with the tides and when you want to go.

Captain Kevin has been fishing in the area daily for over 30 years, so he's considered an expert for these waters. He's was born and raised in the area, and has always had a passion for fishing, as well as a desire to become a captain. His dreams came true, and now he enjoys taking people out and showing them the joys of fishing. His favorite thing is watching people catch a big one and seeing the smiles on their faces!
